For 14 days my brother Tony and I will bike from Salt Lake City to San Francisco documenting our zero waste journey thorough photos.
My brother and I are both extremists both in body and mind. We believe in having fun while conserving the environment and being creative. We will document the land as we see it while traveling 1,000 miles consuming zero fossil fuels.
Since about the age of 16 I became fascinated with the concept of photography and its ability to freeze fragments of time. Around the same time I became an avid bicyclist both for transportation and leisure. Throughout college most of my work has consisted of sculptural objects however I always enjoyed taking photographs.
My brother Tony is a man of many talents primarily consisting of backcountry snowboarding. Three years ago my brother Tony started a smoothie stand at the Salt Lake City Growers market called Off the Grid. His smoothies are made from bicycle power using a generator.
I enjoy the idea of achieving the impossible while keeping the environment untouched. While riding my bike I see things that I would miss if I was in a car because of both speed and scale.
Together we are collaborating not only on a mentally and physically challenge but joining forces to photo document the land as we see it from Salt Lake To San Francisco in approximately the course of two weeks.
After we have traveled on our journey are final show will be a collection of photos hung and framed by bikes held at the San Francisco critical mass.
