Blame Space is the intergalactic sequel to Game of Blame (Kickstarted 2016). If you only play games where everyone sings Kumbaya and no one throws tantrums, pretzels or furniture, please stop reading now!
Someone is going to take the blame for your mission going south, and that someone is going out the airlock! But who?
You'll need to raise issues about your crewmates while burying your own guilty secrets. Exploit your duty privileges or even swap your job to sow confusion and avoid taking a one-way space-walk. Then you just need to find that one poor schmuck to take the rap…
Co-operation will only get you so far in Blame Space because you can't trust anyone until you're safely in a lifepod and off the ship.
Gang up on someone too soon and you could weaponize their hand, making them more powerful than you could possibly imagine. Throw a teammate in the Brig who isn't planning to sabotage the ship and you've basically given them a free ticket home.
Be on the lookout for crewmembers who are showing symptoms of the alien virus and get them quarantined asap. Ewww!
Maybe you'll get the opportunity to betray everyone. Will you take it?
Each crewmember has a starting duty, which comes with both power and responsibility. Sgt. Ahmar can abuse his role as security officer and throw 'wrongdoers' in the Brig, while cunning diplomat Mitzi Sakura can discredit her rivals with deadly gossip. Acting commander Grey won't make many friends by switching out the roster but then neither will the slightly bonkers navigator if she activates the damaged hyperdrive, disrupting spacetime just to save her own derriere.
"This is no mere reskin of an already great game: Blame Space adds a real sense of claustrophobia and tension to the game. Timing your devious blame strategy becomes evermore important here with precious airlocks in a chaotic state of repair, the potential to spend your last hours stuck in the brig or quarantine, and oh yes, a mad ship's computer that might just kill you all. It's like a terrible HR meeting on the Nostromo. Great addition to the 'Blame' line." cardandpixel
"Blame Space is a card game that will have you flipping tables and falling out with your friends as they bring paranoia and sneaky gameplay to the forefront. Here’s the gist: Someone on your spaceship has caused your mission to fail, but who betrayed the crew? You’ll need to be good at sussing out the fibbers, but also need a knack for burying your own dark secrets. One thing’s for sure – you can’t trust anyone until you’re safely secured in that life pod. Timing is everything, which makes Blame Space a tense and engaging game. You can approach it differently each time too: you may want to betray your crew or maybe, you want to focus on exposing your other players. It makes Blame Space both unpredictable and replayable." To keep your playing area ship-shape, you can order one of these spectacular vinyl play mats. There's space for everything and it smells just like Doctor Zelen's cabin.
Play mats are included with the Red Alert, Officer Candidate, and Blame Bundle pledge levels. Please note that due to their size (700mm × 600mm), the mats will be mailed to you separately.
A parasitic Polymorph and suicidal Fanatic have infiltrated the crew. Now survival isn't the only path the victory in Suicide Mission: a Blame Space micro-expansion exclusive to Kickstarter backers.
Risks and challenges
The game has been written, illustrated, proofed and tested; all that remains is printing.
This isn't my first Kickstarter card game, so I'm familiar with manufacture and fulfilment issues and set my dates accordingly.
