...is a card game for 3-4 players. It takes about 7 minutes to play, and is simple to learn.
...as an investigator, you have your own theory...but so do the others! Watch your contemporaries closely to deduce their misguided efforts and discredit them. Leverage your affiliations and make use of every method of investigation to reveal the truth to the world!

Paranormal Investigation pits your powers of deduction against those of your opponents. Using your initial glances at the face down mystery cards, and your opponents actions, try to deduce which cards meet your objective as an investigator.
At the beginning of the game, each player gets an Investigator card as well as an Affiliation card, giving a unique combination of abilities, making each game different. This works by the unique abilities or characteristics of the Investigator combining with the unique ability of the Affiliation!
What kind of combinations?
Government backed Medium? Yes please! Military funded Skeptic? Now you're talking! Card carrying Enthusiast Fraud? Innnnteresting!
The Believer is looking for evidence to support that paranormal phenomenon exists and cannot be scientifically explained. Reveal two "Phenomenon" cards to win the game!
The Skeptic is looking for logical explanations to explain the event and is eager to prove the world is a scientifically explicable place. Reveal two "Logical Explanation" cards to win the game!
The Fraud does not care one way or the other, he is simply along for publicity, money, or thrill. Since he doesn't care, he truly just enjoys stirring the pot to see others fight to defend their position. Run out of cards in your hand to win the game!
The Medium believes that the mystery is actually a message from beyond, and that neither the phenomenon or science matters as much as what the messenger is saying. Reveal a single "Message" card to win the game!
What are the six basic Affiliations and what do they do? In addition to determining the order of play, they also interact with the Investigator cards by adding a unique ability AND a thematic tie in.
(Plus, it's fun to announce out loud that your Skeptic is also The Victim, or that your Believer is also with The Military.. )
Here they are:
THE CHURCH - This is backing by a very powerful religious organization who wants to get down to the the truth of the situation - after all they need their own answers, and they've got their own reasons! Their unique ability activates when a Poltergeist is played.
THE ENTHUSIAST - Not an organization as much as a Fan Club! The Enthusiasts have collected all of the trading cards, watched all of the TV shows and know ALL the lingo. All they need is a chance to actually participate in an investigation. This affiliation can interact with the discard pile when drawing cards (they don't have any real organizational power, so sometimes you have to use what you scrounge up or trade!)
THE LOCAL - Picture your local neighborhood HOA club getting together, deciding "Yep, we got trouble right here in town and we need to get it settled, who's with me?" They may not have access to high falutin' equipment, but they've got gumption and they're not going to let something happen in their neighborhood where their kids play and rest on THEIR watch! This affiliation has better access to using low tech cards (2 and 3)!
THE MILITARY - One of the most powerful, well organized and well funded organizations, often called in when others can't or won't do the job. This affiliation has access to the most powerful and rare tools and methods using high tech cards (6's)!
THE PROFESSIONAL - All across America there are well organized and trained groups of people who dedicate their free time and often even their full time work-lives to unraveling the truth. They purchase equipment out of pocket and plan group investigations, often accessible to the public. They know this stuff inside and out, and use their vast skill and experience to get to the truth. This affiliation can peek at any mystery card once it gets to 10 evidence played on it!
THE VICTIM - Probably the affiliation who is the most interested in unraveling the mysteries and revealing the truth in the game. Whatever happened, happened DIRECTLY to the Victim. They experienced it, they can't explain it, and depending on what Investigator type they are, they have an active interest in proving things one way or the other! The Victim can peek at an additional mystery card at the beginning of the game, giving them the single most insight into which mysteries match their agenda!

Risks and challenges
We have all needed art, technical specifications and mechanics developed and, where needed, thoroughly play tested. We have given ample time to get the game off to manufacturers, and receive it back. We have developed a proven system of shipping and tracking shipments to ensure each order is completely fulfilled.
If we do run into any obstacles along the way (meteorite hitting the production facility or zombie attack), we will candidly approach you to talk through it. We do not just want to kickstart this game, but help kickstart our reputation as a budding board game design and publishing house!
