About this project
What is it?
Bunny and the Missing Monster is an interactive story-book application that's a fun, original fairy tale for all ages. It lets you pick what Bunny does and says, leading the story down alternate possible paths to entirely different happily-ever-afters. It’s like one of those game books, which you may have read when you were a kid, that lets you choose which adventure you have, but with way more cool stuff:
Professional quality features:
- All-original 3D animations and illustrations
- Full story narration and voice acting
- Lush, original soundtrack
- Story enhancing sound effects
- Easy to use interface
- Save and replay your customized stories
- Unlockable alternate paths and endings
It will be available for Windows and Macintosh computers (DRM free), iPad, iPhone, and most popular Android tablets and phones.
What's the story?
Bunny's best friend, who just happens to be a monster, has gone missing. Now she's off on an adventure, trying to unravel the mystery and bring him home safely, before the village that he protects falls into the hands of nefarious evildoers.
Along the way, Bunny discovers curious clues, remarkable creatures, enchanted places, and a mystery so big, it could change the course of the entire world.
Will you like it?
Do you like stories about magic and elves? How about minotaurs and trolls? Wizards, princesses, knights and fairies? If yes, then you’ll love Bunny and the Missing Monster. It's a fun, fantasy, fairy tale, mystery adventure. If, however, you don't like having fun, magical kingdoms and talking animals, adventure, treasure, and richly colored and textured, stylized pictures and animation, then you will not like Bunny and the Missing Monster.
Why make it interactive?
Because I like making fun things that bring people happiness, and because if it's interactive it can be more fun, like a game, and have all the cool features listed above, and these fun things will hopefully make you happy when you experience them, and then I will be happy too.
The primary goal is to finish producing the interactive story so everyone can start enjoying it by next summer. I've spent the last year creating the world, creatures, and key characters; the technical production pipeline is tested and true, and we're ready to begin full production. The mission now is to create all of the content Bunny and the Missing Monster needs to make it a great interactive story experience.
I have exciting plans to bring you more cool Bunny stuff should the project exceed its initial goal. These include:
- Adding quality mini-games and special in-story rewards to the storybook
- Camera support for mobile devices so you can take pictures of yourself and your friends with the cast of characters from the story
- More locations, creatures, characters and branching adventure paths
- The Goodwell Magical Creatures Society Guide to Local Magical Creatures book
- A short film version of the story for you to watch and enjoy
We'll get more specific as the campaign progresses.
How can you help and be a part of this?
You can back the project at any reward level, and just as important, you can help spread the word. We only need 1000 people backing us at the $25 level to reach our initial goal. With over seven billion people in the world, our odds seem good, as long as enough people find out about us.
Word of mouth is the best way for this to happen. So please, share the link to this Kickstarter page on your Facebook, Google+, MySpace or other social site. Tweet about us, talk about us, write about us, and encourage others to join us. Please don't go spamming people on our behalf, but generously share your enthusiasm where appropriate.

About the rewards
Many of the rewards allow you to become part of a special group from the story, and I wanted to be clear about what that means. These are honorary titles that do not affect the story or how you interact with it. Bunny and the Missing Monster is an interactive story, and I wanted to start off your involvement by giving you the choice of joining, and being part of, a fun group from its fairy tale world. It's about making the whole experience, even choosing a reward, more fun. I hope you like it.
Some of the rewards offer the chance for the likeness of you, a loved one or pet, to appear in the story in a number of ways, or for you to contribute ideas and/or original artwork to the story. In order to fulfill these rewards, we will require content from you in a digital format that meets our specifications (don't worry, it's easier than Facebook). We will also need you or your legal guardian to sign a release form allowing us to use your image or content in our project. If any of the above conditions doesn't work for you, you can still choose to back the project at the same dollar amount without contributing content to the story.
Want to know more?
Please feel free to contact me via the link beside my picture at the top of the page. I want you to be a part of this project and am here to answer your questions throughout the process. So send me a note if you like, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Thanks a bunch!
Risks and challenges
This is a personal project with a small core team consisting of me (Laddie) and my friend, and lead programmer, Ben. We are both professional video game industry veterans. Together, we’ve already completed and published two full games under our Kineplay company banner, and over 100 more games working for other publishers. We’re sure we can complete and distribute Bunny and the Missing Monster, barring any unexpected health issues, injuries, or a natural disaster that could occur and affect either of us.
Both creation of the finished interactive story, and fulfillment of the rewards, may take longer than estimated, depending on the number of people who back the project and which rewards they choose. The good news is, if the completion date moves out because we exceed our goal, it will be because we're using the additional funding to make the story bigger and better and bring you more cool stuff.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
