TsunamiCon 2016 will be held October 7th, 8th and 9th at the Wichita Scottish Rite in downtown Wichita. We are honored to present our third annual large-scale tabletop gaming convention in America's heartland, this time at the historic Wichita Scottish Rite! We have a huge space for gaming and our marketplace, and we have access to additional rooms throughout the building. And we want YOU to help us determine how we're going to use it. We learned a lot from our first two events, and we intend to build on our success and make this year’s con experience even better.
This year, we need to fund the entire operation in advance, and we have some cool rewards lined up for backers. As a backer you get:
- Badge prices available only to Kickstarter backers.
- Access to all non-exclusive convention events.
- Premium access to exclusive events presented during this campaign.
- Eligibility for prize drawings up to and during the event.
- Great prices on TsunamiCon merchandise.
TsunamiCon attendees can enjoy a number of gaming opportunities and related geekery throughout the weekend!
Our team encompasses decades of experience in running live gaming events and includes a staff of experienced gamers and game masters of every ilk. We offer preregistration for numerous games and plenty of open gaming opportunities. Attendees can get in on some old school RPG action or sit down and try something new. We also have access to a sizable library of hobby games and knowledgeable folk to help you get started. It’s a great event for novice gamers and old veterans alike!

Volunteers and Game Masters
The Volunteer and Game Master reward levels are for attendees committed to providing the two vital services that make our convention possible. Volunteers pledging at this level must sign up for eight (8) hours of volunteer service spread out over the convention, to be employed as needed (registration, checking badges, helping with special events, running errands, handing out swag, assisting Game Masters, and so forth). You are responsible for reviewing our volunteer policies and submitting an application to volunteer at the event no later than October 1st. Failure to register as a volunteer will require you to pay the difference at will-call to acquire your badge.
Game Masters pledging at this level must register to run at least eight (8) hours of gaming (two 4-hour slots with at least 6 seats at the table). Preregistration will be available soon on the TsunamiCon website. Game Masters are encouraged to promote their games on social media to elicit registration, but you are not penalized for failing to fill the seats at your tables. Failure to register your games by September 29th will require you to pay the difference at will-call to acquire your badge.
The following reward levels for vendors are available for TsunamiCon 2016. Space is limited! Note that the Merchant level is accessible by selecting one of our available Vendor or Artist reward levels and adding $55 to your pledge.

Add-ons are available by adding the appropriate amount to your pledge. Note that you are better served by selecting The Real Deal pledge level if you simply want to add even a set of dice to your 3-Day Pass. Whatever your pledge, simply add the following amount to your pledge for each additional item. If you pledge at any level that provides a three-day pass, you can now add a second regular weekend pass for only $25! Additional passes beyond the second are still $35.
Additionally, any backer at the $60 REAL DEAL reward level can add a second REAL DEAL reward by adding $40 to your pledge. And any backer at the $75 SILVER VIG reward level can add a second SILVER VIG ticket by adding $50 to your pledge!
Note that the reward levels for dice and shirts include the costs of shipping if you are not attending the convention. Otherwise, these rewards will be held for you at will-call.
Once we've reached our funding goal, the real fun begins. We are committed to providing a quality weekend of gaming and geekery, and one of the best ways to do this is to celebrate your contributions with fun and engaging stretch goals. Here's a few to get us started:
PRIZE DRAWINGS ($7500): When we reach this goal, we will give away a random card game or board game to a Kickstarter backer each week starting in mid-August and leading up to the con. This is in addition to the drawings for qualified ticket-holders held during the event.
COSPLAY CASH ($7800): When we reach this goal, we will add cash prizes to our annual TsunamiCon Cosplay Contest.
PINT GLASSES ($8200): When we reach this goal, the swag bag for VIG ticket-holders will include a custom-made TsunamiCon pint glass. The glasses will be available to any Kickstarter backer as an additional $20 Add-On.
Additional Stretch Goals may include extra gaming space at the con and special guests!
Risks and challenges
This is our third annual event and associated Kickstarter campaign, and we will undoubtedly encounter numerous challenges while setting up and organizing the convention, from sudden shifts in contributor availability to last-minute schedule changes to unforeseen complications in getting the materials ready in time. We learned a lot from our previous efforts, however, and our staff has considerable experience handling gaming events and larger events of various types. Additionally, a small army of volunteers stand ready to make this convention a success. We will be vigilant, and we will adapt, and we will endeavor to keep our backers and registered attendees informed of any complications that may affect their convention experience. We are building several new relationships with vendors and manufacturers, and we will similarly be vigilant should those relationships prove unsuccessful and require us to change our plans mid-stream. This could be anything from a manufacturing delay to a problem at the printers. We are endeavoring to establish back-up plans to ensure a surer path to success.
