Prosthetic Reality is an Augmented Reality Art book. The book is paired with our new iOS app, EYEJACK, to allow each artwork to come to life with animation and sound. The project has been created in collaboration between artist Sutu, Code on Canvas and 45 artists and sound designers from around the world. With additional support from The Department of Culture of Arts in Western Australia. Sutu previously created the AR comic book Modern Polaxis (which was also successfully funded on Kickstarter).
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Augmented Reality (AR) is the process of overlaying digital information over our physical reality. In this new book, Sutu invited 45 cutting edge artists, animators and sound designers from around the world to use the EYEJACK AR platform to overlay their printed artworks with animation and sound. EYEJACK uses image recognition and animation mapping technology to seamlessly map AR animations to the printed page. The EYEJACK app will be released for FREE once the book is printed.

More pages from the book...
The purpose of the book is to showcase the potential of AR by allowing a diverse selection of artists to explore it's aesthetic and narrative possibilities. It will also serve as a historical document as we step in to this new era of art and technology. Prosthetic Reality features the largest collection of AR artists working in this emerging field. At this moment in time Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Apple are investing hundreds of millions of dollars in to new AR technologies that will ensure it becomes a standard in our everyday lives. We want this book to serve as a catalyst for establishing a high standard of AR art as we move forward.

Risks and challenges
The challenge for this project has been making that technology available to the artists involved and ensuring all their art and animations work effectively. We currently have 30 AR animations running in the app. We expect to have the remaining 15 AR artworks working beautifully in the app by the end of the campaign.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
