I started my musical career as a solo singer songwriter under the name of Nate Borofsky. I had a lot of fun as a solo performer (even won a couple awards). For the past 11 years I've been touring around with Girlyman. As some of you know, the band recently decided to take a hiatus.
In the past year, I've written about 100 songs. In going through these songs, I decided that I really want to share some of this music. Because of the Girlyman hiatus, now is the right time to do this.
I've started culling them down to my favorite 14 or so, and have already recorded many of them. But in order to make this into a real CD, I'll require some outside help. There are costs like mastering, design, and duplication, as well as getting some studio equipment that will help to flesh these songs out just right. Some of this has already been paid for, and some still needs to be purchased.
I want this album to burst joyously into the world, and I want as many people as possible to be a part of it. I've set up some fun rewards for the pledges over to the right, but above all, I want to share this music with you and give you a chance to be a part of making it.
UPDATE JANUARY 25:
OMG!!! We just made the goal (with only 22 days left to go - whew)! Thanks to everyone who's pledged so far!
Even though I've reached my goal, I don't want the momentum around this project to stop. And your contribution, whether psychic or financial, will help keep this project moving. While my $15,000 goal covers the production of a good CD, extra financial support gives me room to improve it even more (e.g., mastering at a better studio).
I want to make this fun for everybody, so if we can reach a NEW goal of $25,000, I will direct, produce, and star in an *exclusive* video for everyone who pledges ($10 or more). This video, titled "A Nate Song: From Inception to Completion", would document my process as I write, record, and produce (choose instruments and overall vibe, etc.) a song. It would also give you a tour of what a typical "day in the life of Nate" is like, and I'm sure it'll contain as many surprises for me as for you. :-)
It would be available around the time (or shortly after) the album is available. If this idea excites you, tell your friends - if we managed to raise $15,000 in six days, I bet we can reach $25,000 in then next 21.
I'm excited to offer this to you! Your support continues to inspire me.
Thanks again, everyone!
Risks and challenges
I've put out 9 CDs in the past 15 years (solo & band), and I know there are often unforeseen delays in finishing a project. While I don't expect it to happen with this CD, I will promptly keep everyone in the loop if it does.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
