What is "Triggered"?
"Triggered" tells the story of Abby, an innocent thirteen-year-old girl who finds a gun in her home. Inspired by Luc Besson’s Léon: The Professional (1994), Triggered takes an honest look at the consequences of media’s portrayal of gun violence in the United States. Film and media have always romanticized gun violence; there has been little effort to pinpoint the everyday-life risk that individuals run owning guns. Yet, problem does not lie in the rights of owning guns itself, but more in the responsibility of gun owners. Through the use of realist camera and lighting techniques, the audience to be able to relate to the space, as well as the living condition of the film’s characters. Additionally in order for the film to have a greater shock value and more emotional effect on the audience, extreme framing and angles will be used to highlight the film’s symbolisms.
Who are we?
Our writer, director and editor is My Linh Tran, a senior Film Major at DePauw University. "Triggered" is Linh’s senior film thesis, which she has dedicated years to developing. Linh is originally from Vietnam, a country that does not allow its citizen to own and use guns, which gives her a outsider's perspective when it comes to the United States’ gun culture. With "Triggered", Linh wants to shock the audience into realization of very real consequences that can result from one’s irresponsibility regarding gun possession.
Our producer is Katelyn Utz, a senior Peace and Conflict Studies and English Literature double major at DePauw University. Katelyn has produced a short film for Linh prior to "Triggered", and has experience in writing, directing, acting and editing. Having studied conflict resolution, Katelyn is passionate about incorporating this knowledge into the filmmaking process. She was most drawn to the "Triggered" script because it offers a of the influence of gun violence in the media and the unintended, but very real, impact of such portrayal.
Our Director of Photography is Jarius Pierre-Toussaint, a junior at DePauw University majoring in Studio Art. He is extremely passionate about ethics and issues concerning socioeconomic class and childcare across both social activism and art. Jarius wants to join the crew to obtain hands on experience as a film cinematographer. He plans on bringing a unique approach to cinematography that is based on breaking rules and innovating new ways to capture high tension scenes.
Our Assistant Director is Greisy Genao, a junior English Writing Major at DePauw University. Her passions include playwriting, screenwriting, acting, and directing. "Triggered" matters to Greisy because conversations of gun violence have been at an all time high these past few years, but there seems to be no resolution. Greisy believes this film has the potential to drive those conversations into the right direction.
Our Production Designer is Kaitlyn Root, a freshman Political Science major at DePauw University. Kaitlyn has experience in many forms of art and looks forward to using her skills for the film medium.
Our Gaffer is Jeremy Boyd, a senior Communication and Media Studies major at DePauw University. Jeremy has worked with both film and television production, and writes comedy in his spare time.

Dale’s biggest acting role to date is a lead role as Charlotte in the feature length film Reparation, acting with Jon Huertas, Marc Menchaca and Virginia Newcomb under the direction of Kyle Ham.
Abby's mother, Kathryn, will be played by Caroline Good. Caroline teaches Voice & Movement, Acting, and Introduction to Theatre courses at DePauw University. She earned her degree in Acting/Directing and Vocal Performance from Northern Illinois University. She has performed in the Chicago area, Walt Disney World, in Orlando, and in Indiana, along with amassing many other impressive achievements within the theatre world.
