What will your money do?
The art piece in Portland, OR is just one of many pieces in a series of work. Each piece takes time and money to complete. The "spot" has to be found, a clay impression is made, the clay impression is used to create a mold and then a wax positive which is used to cast the final piece in bronze or aluminum. After the piece is cast and all the finish work is done it needs to be transported and installed.
Money from this Kickstarter campaign will go toward transportation to Portland and purchasing materials for installation of the piece.
If the campaign raises more money than the goal:
Any money, above and beyond the goal, will go toward completing and installing the other pieces in the series (in various locations in other states).
Risks and challenges
As with any sculptural endeavor, there are many factors that can delay or throw a wrench in the process. Potential obstacles may arise while casting the bronze. There can be issues with mold-making, investments and pours that do not turn out as expected. Resolving these issues comes down to making sure I have backup wax positives ready in case a foundry pour does not go as expected so I can quickly reinvest and repour. After my project is successfully funded, my biggest obstacle will be the weather. This project is an outdoor installation and the area needs to be dry to install the piece. It is important for me to be able to travel to Portland on short notice when the weather conditions are ideal.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
