Ever wonder who makes the world's best Buffalo wing? Here's the film that settles it once and for all.
THE GREAT CHICKEN WING HUNT is a documentary about Buffalo wings and the rag-tag team that set out to find the perfect one.
Invented in 1964, the once lowly Buffalo wing has become one of the world's most popular snack foods. But who makes the best one?
That was the question, posed to me in a Slovak bar, that gave birth to a quest by 10 strangers to scour the northeast United State -- the birthplace of the hot wing -- to find the world's ultimate wing. We covered 2,500 miles and sampled wings from 75 of the world's best wing houses in 16 action-packed days on the road.
Our quest was followed by hundreds of thousands on the web and TV and in newspapers across the country. A nation waited with bated breath as we deliberated for two days to pick a winner.
Find out who we picked and how we made our choice -- and what we learned about Buffalo wings and the nature of perfection. Support us and help the film make it out into the world!
It's been four long years and now we're at the finish line. We've screened rough cuts to large audiences and gotten great responses. Now we need to give the film some final professional spit and polish before we submit it to festivals and hopefully broadcast it on TV. Your donations will go to sound mix, color correction and other finishing touches that could make the difference.
Want to see what you're backing? Join us for special rough cut screenings at Mudville 9 in New York City on April 28.
THE GREAT CHICKEN WING HUNT is a co-production between Slovak and American filmmakers. It has been funded by the New York State Arts Council (NYSCA), the Slovak Ministry of Culture, a handfull of private investors and made possible by the hard work and generosity of dozens of filmmakers and wing buffs from around the world.
An excerpt from the film was broadcast on PBS in 2010. A rough cut of the film screened to a great response at the monthly Docuclub screening series in NYC in January.
HOW KICKSTARTER WORKS
Basically, if we reach the goal, we get the money, minus a small cut Kickstarter takes. If we don't reach the goal, you're not charged and we go back to the fundraising drawing board.
