✨ Welcome to the Kickstarter for Spidersilk Volume 2! ✨
Prentice is out of his element as an ex-soldier (a warrior mage, no less) among thieves. He'd joined out of desperation, seeking some place to belong. And while he has his strengths, they go largely unnoticed for a time, leaving him feeling frustrated and useless.
In volume 2, we'll see Prentice's journey with the thieves continue. First, whispers place a potential threat at the city's gates. But they're just whispers... right? Soon missions begin failing, hinting that the thieves' network isn't as secure as they'd like to think. The thieves quickly learn there is more at play, though the pieces have yet to come together.
Even in this confusing environment, Prentice believes he has found a place among the Weavers. A place to belong. He has found friends, and perhaps more....
Spidersilk is an ongoing long-form webcomic that debuted online in September of 2011. Some things I wanted to address were isolation, loss, culture shock, as well as healing, friendship and found family. Spidersilk is my second webcomic, and I was keen to dive into fantasy! Some early inspirations include folk hero thieves like Robin Hood, Ishikawa Goemon; video game series like Dragon Age and Elder scrolls, as well as Radiata Stories and Valkyria Chronicles; books like The Lies of Locke Lamora and Oliver Twist.
✨ You can read the (unedited) version of Spidersilk free online, here!
Rating: Spidersilk overall is rated older teen for instances of language, blood, violence, and sexual themes. I would not recommend it for anyone under the age of 14, though you may preview the content and judge it for yourself; please feel free to ask me any questions you have about this!
Here's where Kickstarter comes in! Without Kickstarter, volume 2 will not come to print. The first Kickstarter was a success and volume 1 went to print! It was a fairly straight-forward campaign and offered only the book, prints, and commissions. This time, I'll be introducing some new Spidersilk merchandise, much of it developed to debut through this campaign! Stickers, charms, new mini prints, Prentice's fur collar, bookmarks....
But the main attraction is the book! Like volume 1, volume 2 will be edited. Some dialogue will be streamlined and inconsistencies will be fixed for a smoother reading experience. Chapter 10 was expanded after its initial release online, and this volume will include yet further refinement -- I think you'll like it! This volume contains chapters 10-15 (completed between 2013-2015). Most other edits are minor, and are being completed to ensure a great looking printed version (color touch-ups, art adjustments for trim and print safe space). It is 176 pages, 5"x7.5", perfect bound, with interior grayscale art.
✨ WALLPAPER ✨
You'll get a new Spidersilk wallpaper! The wallpaper is in the works, but it will feature Prentice, Orestes, and the Ambassador!
Here is the wallpaper from volume 1's campaign:
✨ VOLUME 2✨
The main attraction! It will be printed with the same company (RA Comics Direct), so the look and feel will be the same as volume 1! 176 pages, grayscale interior pages, 5"x7.5", perfect bound. (See below for volume 1.) The PDF version includes everything in the print copy. Cover art is underway, as are edits.
Five early bird rewards available!
✨ VOLUME 1✨
Did you miss the first Kickstarter? Don't worry! I have a limited run of volume 1 available! They are bundled into one of the rewards.

You can add one more sticker pack onto any other reward tier, to get two packs total -- same designs. (See below for details on add-ons.)
✨ MINI PRINTS✨
In honor of volume 2's opening chapter, which sparked a lot of commentary about love being in the air when it first debuted online, all five mini prints celebrate ships sailing (or to be revealed before the current chapter, 20, is done). They are 5"x7" on sturdy, glossy card stock. Your print choices will be confirmed via a backer survey sent after the Kickstarter is funded.
Three of the five prints are below:

Risks and challenges
✨ Spidersilk volume 1 was successful and rewards delivered! I am using the same company to print volume 2.
✨ I learned how to format specifically for this comic last time, and am using the same printer, but printing snafus can always happen -- I will keep you updated about any problems. I have a back-up printer with comparable prices lined up if need be.
✨ As for the fur collar, I have a degree in fashion and have worked as a seamstress at two different shops. I've made fur collars for myself in the past, though not this specific design -- they're fun and warm!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
