We've added more digital rewards to all backer tiers!
These are now also their own low tier (no book) for our low-funds backers! ♥
We've come forward with being accepting towards those of us who suffer from mental illness, but there is still a lot of stigmas and a sense of taboo when it comes to discussing it. We believe we still need more awareness and open dialogue about how many, if not all, of us suffer throughout our lives from wounds that aren't visible.
We chose to explore anxiety for this anthology because it is one of the most prevalent issues in today's hectic society.
An anthology is a collection of works by different authors gathered into one book.
The book will be a B5, so 176 x 250 millimetres, or 6.9 x 9.8 inches in size.
We managed to collect original works from more than 30 artists from around the world, some disabled, some queer, some just your average Joe, to explore their experiences with anxiety. We have over 90 pages of content that consist of comics, illustrations, sequences, and images that are deeply moving, some disturbing, some soothing.
Our artists examine anxiety in many of its different forms, including but not limited to; social anxiety, pretending to be okay, anxiety in relationships, experiencing a panic attack, and managing your anxiety.
What makes our anthology strong is that the art is varied. Our differences make our book a rich read for anyone who picks it up. As a participating artist, it has been both an interesting and rewarding road to see our team interpret anxiety-related issues, sometimes the exact same ones, but in completely different ways.
Through this campaign, we will be able to offer you a physical copy of the book with special silver foil on the covers (not seen in our test copies), as well as limited, exclusive and personal rewards from our artists, including one of the original watercolor pages produced for the anthology!
We will also offer insights into our team and their work process, by updating the campaign with interviews on a daily basis.
Furthermore, we can offer as an exclusive reward some more in depth-talk about some of the pieces produced for the zine in the form of a digital booklet, full of concept art and work in progress shots, along with artist commentary!
We're a group of freelance artists, and none of us as individuals have enough funding to produce the book - by using Kickstarter, not only can we get more awareness for the issues we want to talk about, but we can also help support all the artists who worked so hard to make this book a reality.
Adding stretch goals and extra goodies to the campaign gives us an opportunity to thank those who make the book possible. The more campaign funds we receive, the more unique items we can give our backers!
Digital rewards will be sent out via email as soon as possible after the campaign ends.
The physical rewards will be ready to ship out about a month after the Kickstarter ends. Depending on your distance from Sweden, rewards are estimated to arrive anywhere from within a week, up to a month after shipping. So we estimate you get your book and goodies latest two months after the Kickstarter is concluded.
We are confident we can ship out everyone's books safely and in a timely manner, and for a reasonable price. The shipping costs will be the same no matter which tier you go for.
We will ship all over the world, and shipping will be "free", as we've decided to include it in the price. So the price you see is the price you get!
We will try to organize shipping in batches, sending books to one region (US, Europe, Asia, etc) at a time. We will do our best to put out updates as soon as they are available when it comes to shipping.
Unforeseen delays that are out of our control can occur during delivery, so please allow an additional two weeks before checking up on your package. We will be doing our best to make sure everything gets to you!
In the event of lost orders in the mail (it happens!), we will offer to resend the order once for free, or alternatively, you will have the option for a refund. Please note that we can only reship an order once if it is lost. If the second parcel is lost, we will not be able to offer a refund.
For those who are not familiar with Kickstarter, it’s a worldwide crowd-funding platform for artists and their creative projects. Once the funding period ends, we will start printing the book and send out surveys for the rewards, which will be sent to you in the fall of 2018. We will also send out a survey to confirm every backer's address is up to date so we know we are shipping your book to the right place!
When the survey is ready for you to fill in, you will receive an e-mail through Kickstarter. We ask that you fill the survey in as soon as possible, to avoid any delays in sending out your reward!
Risks and challenges
We've tackled printing quality by making a proof copy of the book, and we decided to hold off the launch until our book was ready. We are selling you not an idea, but a finalized concept. Our anthology is done; all we need is some backers to make a bunch of high quality books!
Our biggest challenge will be shipping. To prevent an epic failure in sending books, we limited the number of physical rewards to have better control over them. Everything will come from Memo and Sofie from Sweden, and having a single distributor makes it easier to control.
Should we experience severe problems with shipping, we have friends and colleagues who have experience in packing and shipping. We've also factored in extra resources in the Kickstarter's goal in case shipments get lost to be able to work something out in an unfortunate situation like that.
If you choose a reward tier with custom art, your package will be a bit later than the other backers. We've also already started designing the merchandise, and counted in time for them to be ordered, printed and be prepped for shipping. This is why we have set the delivery dates quite late, in an attempt to be able to keep our promises.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
