@Justin though a lot of divers look quite similar, the same location of the bezel makes it for me quite obvious its a fake...

even if a new project is opened... I would advice to stay away...

Funny how he fails to address the fact that the watch face looks EXACTLY like the J. Crew Timex Andros watch posted for comparison on:…

    3. Ryan Carmellini on February 5, 2013

Just got a reply back from him.

      Good Evening-

      Thanks for your questions.

The aesthetics of the heritage watch do resemble other diver watches available on the market, whether the Timex Andros or other diver watches. However, the Heritage watch qualities such as the movement, sapphire crystal, and interchangeable watch bands are what made it unique .

As for the image of the Heritage watch with the leather band, yes it was photoshopped by my graphics guy. Looking back this photo should have never been posted, however I decided to use this image as we were awaiting the prototype to come in from supplier. So I jumped the gun and it cost us our kickstarter project.

I have messaged Kickstarter and I am still awaiting their reply regarding the specifics of suspension. They have replied with an extremely vague response which does not shed much light. Nonetheless, I am still awaiting their reply and will reshoot the video within the coming week or so. I hope to resubmit on kickstarter and give the project another go. If kickstarter does not wish to approve, I will goto other crowdfunding sites such as indiegogo to attempt to fund this project again.

I want to thank you again for supporting the project. We will bring these watches to production!
If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.

@mans - I hear ya, just spoke with him this AM though.

Chris asked me to post this on his behalf:

      Hey guys!

While Kickstarter has suspended this project, I am unable to post a comments or updates. I have contacted Kickstarter for specifics as to why the project was suspended. I will resubmit this project to Kickstarter once I have received clarification. I thank you all for backing and pledging to this project. We will bring these watches/watch bands to production and will give it another shot! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at

@Chandler the lack of any news of Chris in here, make me doubt if he was really sincere to you....

This looks like a pretty blatant ripoff. It's a shame, because I was really loking forward to the watch.

    7. Mans on February 2, 2013

Glusti, kickstarter does only checks the projects a little, they dont do a lot of background checking. Portotype checking would be a negative. Shame it was a scam. Thanks for the folks uncovering it, saved me a couple of bucks!

Thank you to those who posted the links -- at least now I know where I can actually get the watch and band. Also, does anyone know if Kickstarter actually verifies a prototype?

Hello everyone - I have spoken with Chris, and while he works to address the comments, concerns, and most important of all, get this project back up to where it needs to be, he wanted me to share his email address in case anyone wanted to reach out.

With any entrepreneurial project, there are bumps along the way and we should all look forward to the official response from Chris.

      Chris -

I am not running anything on fundfeed. I believe that site works similiar to kicktraq and tracks kickstarter projects.

    13. Dave Monks on January 26, 2013

How do you plan to manage the multiple funding programmes you are running - kickstarter and fundfeed - re: stretch goals? Will you combine the total values raised? Thanks.

    14. Chris Creator on January 26, 2013

      Completely different manufacturers.

As I stated in Update #3:

The aesthetics of the heritage watch may resemble other diver watches available on the market. However, some of the qualities that make the Heritage watch extremely different are the automatic movement with 25 jewel (no battery required), depth of water resistance, case size and scratch resistant/anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass. You will not find another watch on the market that is of the same quality as the Heritage watch for the price. Nor will you find any brands offering interchangeable watch bands as they would rather sell you multiple watches to make more money.

    15. Chris Creator on January 26, 2013

A branded company is Rolex or Cartier, the big names! You can do a google search for "eta stops selling movements" to find more information. You can obtain a very limited amount of ETA Swiss Movements. When I say limited I mean you can purchase 1 or 2, here or there; Without having access to movements, we do not have a watch company. The Hangzhou movement is a reputable movement manufacturer and we have the ability to obtain these movements in large quantities.

I will work up some mock-ups and see if we can add the dark croc band as an additional band if we hit our next stretch goal of $17,500.00

Thanks for your pledge! We do plan on offering the Black Leather Stud band if we meet our next stretch goal of $17,500.00. We will look into offering black stainless steel.

Share this project with your friends!

    16. Rich on January 26, 2013

Just backed. Chris have you thought about including options for "Black" Leather Stud Bands and "Black" Stainless Steel Bands, i would love to own either of those with this watch. Good luck in your endeavour.

    17. Mans on January 26, 2013

Chris, please before you make it available, can you make some mockups or even have some sample shots?

At work its for me a tailored suit, cufflinks, tie, the whole shebang, that will be my primary goal for the watch. Guess you can see my question coming: when you make some pics, would be great to have see it on somesort of same setting

    18. Robert Shopshear on January 25, 2013

So what determines a branded company? Curious as I purchased a watch from another company that made it locally in SF but and through in an ETA movement. Excited to see the end result but curious on the movement choice as you can get plenty of "inexpensive" watches with Chinese movements.

    19. Chris Creator on January 25, 2013

Mans- Will look into and see if we can release a band with your requirements.

Chandler- We hope to be able to offer them with this project and in the future, but we have to hit our stretch goals to have the funds to purchase everything!

Please share our project so that we can offer them!

I'd love to see the color option for bands and the face happen regardless. You have an awesome product and I have no doubt these watches will make a huge splash. Certainly going to be showing it off on my agency's media as soon as I can. Can't wait!

    21. Chris Creator on January 24, 2013

Thanks for your questions and comments everyone!

Gabe: This is one of our colors we are thinking about for our stretch goal. But our backers will ultimately decide via a survey.

Steven: Many of today's top watches and brands are manufactured outside the US. We have selected one out of Hong Kong. ETA is not selling their Swiss Movements to non-branded companies. So unfortunately a true-swiss movement was not an option. The Hangzhou 6311 is a great movement, is time tested, and has great reviews.

Mans- What color croc leather? Dark or light?

    22. Mans on January 24, 2013

Would love to see the watch with some croc leather in multiple colors... Would look great I think

    23. Steven Chiang on January 24, 2013

      Hi Chris:
Will it made in China? "Out side the country" and movement="Hangzhou 6311".

Wish list: I would like to see a stretch goal where the entire watch was black.

    25. Chris Creator on January 19, 2013

Thanks for your pledge and backing of this project. To answer you questions, Field & Crew is an independent company that has created and designed this project in New York. The vision for the Field & Crew brand is one that is inspired by vintage timeless pieces with modern components. We have selected a watch manufacturer that has been in business a very long time and is located outside the country.

Once the project has ended I will send out a survey. You will select your watch bands within the survey. Stretch goals are being created now and we anticipate more watch bands being added.

If you have any other questions let me know!

    26. N.VS on January 19, 2013

      Hey Chris,

I just backed this project with the early backer option. I'd like to know more about the Field & Crew company. Is this independently owned by you? Operated out of NY? Where are the watches manufactured?... etc. And when do we submit witch bands we'd like? Upon completion?

Looking forward to receiving my watch in April as it looks like you are well on your way to your goal! Congrats
