Our Kickstarter Was Successful! Check out the LECHE LIBRE website here to see what we're up to!
Leche Libre is an edgy brand of urban apparel which empowers women to confidently breastfeed in public shame-free with effortless style.
LECHE LIBRE IN THE NEWS
Why Leche Libre?
In a Facebook survey of over 500 breastfeeding moms:
90% of the women polled wanted breastfeeding specific clothing but only 15% of those women actually bought them.
#1 reason for not purchasing breastfeeding accessible clothing?
Lack of stylish options.
Leche Libre is on a mission to provide women with STYLISH AND FUNCTIONAL apparel to help women integrate breastfeeding into their dynamic lives and represent their pre-mom individuality in style!
I’m Andrea Newberry, founder of Leche Libre. As a new mom, my whole life changed and I felt resentful that my personal style had to change as well to accommodate easy breastfeeding. I created Leche Libre out of necessity to provide more fashionable options for nursing women.
Zippers down the bust make for easy and discreet nursing access so you can confidently breastfeed in public shame-free.
Leche Libre gives you:
BOTH stylish and functional nursing apparel with looks you'll want to wear whether you're breastfeeding or not.
- Zippers along the bust provide easy and discreet nursing access so you can never worry about breastfeeding in public again.
Nurture yourself AND your baby at the same time with styles that allow you to represent your individuality while being the best mom you can be.
- Versatile garments perfect for professional settings with easy pumping access!
- Garments which are ethically manufactured in the USA to empower women on both sides of the transaction.
Leche Libre creates styles with a strong edgy aesthetic because I believe powerful women need powerful fashion. Leche Libre is making it easier for badass breastfeeding women to step out in style without losing their edge.
Nursing moms have a lot on their plate and thinking of themselves often comes last. Don't worry, I've done the planning for you! No matter what social event, you've got a go-to outfit ready for action.
From home to office to formal events, the three versatile looks of the Leche Libre Kickstarter Collection will cover all your bases and allow easy breastfeeding wherever you might go in style.
- The Little Black Breastfeeding Dress is the ultimate in sophisticated style, seamlessly transitioning from day to evening wear.
- The Zipper Tunic is the signature look of the edgy Leche Libre aesthetic and transitions easily from professional to casual wear.
- The Nursing Sweatshirt, which is the first piece from Leche Libre’s upcoming casual streetwear line.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
I’m a one-woman-operation working hard to help empower breastfeeding women across the globe. I’ve spent the last four years teaching myself fashion design and business to develop this business. and I’m finally ready to take Leche Libre to the next level but I need your help to get there! To make Leche Libre a sustainable business, I need to produce larger production runs to provide high quality, ethically made breastfeeding garments at the prices women want to pay.
The money from this Kickstarter, will go directly toward buying material in bulk and meeting larger factory minimums, allowing Leche Libre to go into full professional production mode. With your help we can empower a new generation of Moms to confidently breastfeed shame-free whenever they want, wherever they go in effortless style!
So please, check out our reward tiers above on the right and support this kickstarter today! ------------------------------------------->
The Leche Libre Kickstarter collection features three versatile looks which cover all your breastfeeding bases. In addition to the three styles for women, I'm also featuring a super cute Lucha Libre inspired Onsie for our introductory reward tier. Lets check them all out!
The Zipper Tunic
This signature look of the edgy Leche Libre aesthetic allows you to represent badass womanhood in all its beautiful dichotomy: powerful and nurturing. Be a hard-edged stylish woman AND be a nurturing mother, living your dynamic life and breastfeeding on the go.
The hip pocket is big enough to fit large phones and small front pocket fits ID’s or credit cards so you can keep all your valuables close, and do not have to carry a purse AND a diaper bag. Available in sizes 0-16
And NO, YOU DO NOT have to be breastfeeding to wear this!
True to the original intention of the Little Black Dress, I've designed my LBBD to be long-lasting, versatile, affordable, and accessible. The stretch sateen of this dress creates a look ultimate sophistication in total comfort! If every woman needs an LBD, then every breastfeeding woman needs a Little Black Breastfeeding Dress! Dress up and zip down for easy breastfeeding access whenever you want, wherever you go! Available in sizes 0-16!
The Nursing Sweatshirt
This sweatshirt was designed to be your go-to nursing wear for everyday use. A sweatshirt is the ultimate in versatility.
Sweatshirt color options
In addition to the black and plum, we had a little contest to pick the third color and the winner selected: Cobra grey!
- It’s classic raglan sleeve profile has been edged up with two square teeth zippers down the bust for easy nursing access.
Sleeves feature long 4" cuff to fit any arm length. (Sleeves in images are styled and pulled up.) Available in sizes XS-XL.

The name Leche Libre is a play off of Lucha Libre, the Mexican wrestling league. What better mascot for Leche Libre then a wrestling baby? Watch out, this kid means business.
- American apparel onsie made in USA
- 100% combed cotton silk screened in USA
- Machine washable
- Guaranteed to make any baby look amazing
LARGER SIZES: I have gotten a lot of feedback from you all that you are interested in larger sizes and I LISTEN! I have added a SIZE 16!
PLUS SIZES: I had hoped to have plus sizes ready for this kickstarter, but they patterns were not ready to go yet and had to be cut out. I apologize for the inconvenience! Leche Libre is a body positive brand and getting plus sizes out is very important to me. I will get them to you as soon as I am able! I am hoping Spring of 2017.
Do not worry if you do not know your size right now. Upon successful completion of the kickstarter, I will email you a survey in September where you can pick your size and color then.

GUILT FREE FASHION
As a brand which aims to empower women, having ethical business practices is crucial. I make conscious choices when making partnerships to create equitable relationships where everyone benefits. All my garments are ethically made in the USA. I am on first name basis with the women at the factory in Milwaukee, WI who will be sewing my KIckstarter collection. A Leche Libre garment will make you feel confident as a woman AND a consumer! As Moms, we know we're all in this world together and we need to work together to make a better future for our children.
You may be thinking, "I LOVE this idea, but I don't need breastfeeding apparel. Can I still help?"
I am partnering with Chicago Volunteer Doulas, a free/sliding scale doula service for vulnerable communities in Chicago. Through CVD, we will get Leche Libre garments into the hands of women who need them the most. With your help, we can empower women everywhere to breastfeed easier and improve breastfeeding rates because every baby deserves the best start in life!
If you wish to donate to our Chicago Volunteer Doula program, just back any garment reward tier to the right. After the campaign is over, I will send you a survey where you can say you are donating your garment and I will take care of the rest!

Risks and challenges
Hofstadter's Law: It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law.
— Douglas Hofstadter,
The development phase of this collection is done. I’ve spent the last two years doing small sample runs to work out as many of the kinks as I could in the manufacturing and sourcing process. I have all the materials selected. The sample garments have been made and tested for quality. I will be working to align delivery at the end of August, beginning of September to coincide with the end of the campaign and our Milwaukee manufacturer is ready to go once we get them all the materials.
While I feel confident about my timeline, there can always be last minute snags which come up. I have tried to take Hofstadter’s law into account and padded in extra time, but, to my great chagrin, I do not have control over all things. If any hitches come up, I will update you as we go along to make sure you are aware of everything which is going down behind the scenes. Well maybe not everything. I’ll spare you how many quarts of sweat pour out of my body during the process, but please be rest assured, I am sweating to make sure you get some awesome garments to help you be your stylish self while being the best Mom you can be.
Thank you all for your love and support!
