MIRANDA LEVY'S 2014 RUNWAY COLLECTION KICKSTARTER
Following my seven episode run on Project Runway Season 12, I am back in Milwaukee and working on my first complete line of designs since my summer in New York City. In preparation for my return to the runway, I am offering an opportunity to help kickstart my new line and my first official show of new designs in almost a year.
The goal of this project is to fund and create 15 original designs and present them in a runway show in Milwaukee, WI in February of 2014. The Kickstarter funds will pay for fabric, materials, hardware and tools as well as promotional costs for the event. If I raise funds beyond the goal, those funds will be used to develop production and distribution of the most popular of my new designs.
Thanks to Michael Weiss of Lash Boutique in Brookfield, I've added a very limited supply of custom made "Miranda Red" Lip Gloss!
I've just added 6 hand knit circle scarves! These include front row seats to my Return To The Runway event on 2.28.14!
TSHIRT OF THE MONTH For the month of October, we're featuring a T-Shirt Of The Month rather than a Dress Of The Month. The red and white baseball t-shirt features artwork from Milwaukee High School Of The Arts student Jecilia Negron ( http://www.ciliyah.blogspot.com/ ) to celebrate my partnership with MPS and the opening of my new studio space at Bay View High School. These will be available in mens, womens and childrens sizes if I reach my Kickstarter goal!
HIGH LEVEL PLEDGE REWARDS
MEET OTHER PROJECT RUNWAY DESIGNERS!
The highest level pledgers will be recognized as sponsors of the show and provide an opportunity for Milwaukee to meet another Project Runway contestant! Do you want to see the work of Kate, Sandro, Alexander, Karen or others from Season 12 in person? Are there other designers from past seasons you'd like to meet? Help me bring one of these designers to Milwaukee and then join us for a private night of behind the scenes stories!
FROM THE RUNWAY TO YOUR CLOSET!
I am also offering a custom designed dress for supporters who want to wear the collection as well as see it on the runway. This dress will be custom made with the pledger for fit, shape, color and form but will tie in to the rest of the line as well. These pledgers will get a sneak preview of the entire line and the inspirations behind my new work as well as get a chance to visit my studio for fitting.
BUSINESS AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES!
I am also offering a Meet & Greet / Q&A opportunity for Milwaukee-area business owners and organizations who want to provide a unique experience for their employees, clients and customers. This will include Facebook / Twitter shout-outs for the business or organization as well as photos with employees and attendees. I would love to meet with veteran's organizations, salon and boutique owners, school and church groups, youth groups, or any other business or organization that I would be inspired by or that is inspired by my story. I'm a people person and would love to see you!
KIDS SEWING LESSONS!
I love working with kids and inspiring them to follow their dreams. For a donation, I will gladly give a basic sewing lesson to your designer-in-training and give them some tips on how to create their own garments. I will work with each student to create a piece of clothing that they can keep! We will sketch an idea, make a pattern and put it all together just like we did back in Parson's work room!
LIMITED PLEDGE PRIZES
Hand Drawn Final Design Sketches
During the process of designing a line, I may create hundreds of sketches and from these I pull the final designs together. For this line, I will be offering the 15 final design sketches as prizes for supporters.
Red Tartan Plaid Wool Circle Scarves SOLD OUT!
Due to how fast we sold out of the limited clutch purses, we've added another handmade item by Miranda! This warm wool scarf will be the perfect accessory to your winter wardrobe. Show Nina Garcia who's fashionable this Christmas by proudly wearing a Miranda Levy original!
Art Deco Clutch Purses (SOLD OUT!!!)
I will also be offering my handmade art deco inspired clutch purses as a pledge prize. I will be carrying one with me at NYFW and during the finale episode of Project Runway. Hopefully lots of paparazzi will get photos of them while I'm there. There are only 12 available and I will not be making more when they're gone.
FUN PLEDGE PRIZES
I have a collection of fun and inexpensive items that may interest fans of Project Runway or fans of Miranda Levy Fashion Design in general.
These include autographed copies of Shorewood Today magazine:
Autographed copies of Info Magazine:
Project Runway Toy Sets from Fashion Angels:
..t-shirts, and more. Every small donation helps get closer to the $5000 goal and is greatly appreciated.
Risks and challenges
Creating a fashion line and promoting a fashion show in Milwaukee is a risky undertaking, requiring coordination with many sources. We are currently in discussion with venues for the February 2014 runway show and premiere event. Those venues will determine the final date and scope of the runway show.
The pledge prizes featuring custom dress designs may require fittings and travel to Miranda's studio over a period of time to ensure a quality garment and good fit. The incurred costs of this are not included in the pledge amount.
The creation of the clothing line is already underway and many of the pledge gifts are already in hand and ready to distribute once the project is successfully funded. I will do my best to make sure all pledge gifts are received in a timely manner and are up to expectations.
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
