Well I'm packing up my things and heading to Vermont Studios for an enjoyable month long residency in March 2013. During my stay, I'm going to begin working on a book project for my "Head Games" Series, which are a collection of self portrait performance polaroids I took during my last year at Syracuse University. Because these polaroids are one-of-a-kind, unique little gems to me, I find it incredibly hard to let go of them to prospective buyers. So what to do...make an artist book of course!
My plan is to make an accordion style book designating one image per page. The style of this book allows for the work to completely fold out into one large display, or remain in traditional book format. I intend on making the book by hand, using archival paper and ink jet printing for the images, while relying on printmaking letter-type for the minimal text to be included in the book. Of course there will be additional parts i.e. book sleeve, embossing, and embellished lettering that will all aid in making this a great artists book- but those will become more clear and concise as this project progresses into more than just an idea. The purpose of this project is to gain visibility of my work through distribution. It was the LA artist Ed Ruscha, who understood the power of preserving your work in book format to increase viewership, as seen in his classic book "Twenty Six Gasoline Stations". I want to have something tangible for this body of work, and make it available to interested parties.
I am raising $2000.00 to cover the costs associated with the residency and travel. Here is the break down:
$1600.00 Residency Fee
$200.00 Kickstarter Tax (for every successful project, Kickstarter takes 10% of your earnings, a user tax, so I need to raise just a little more than what I actually budgeted to off set the tax Kickstarter charges.) Thank you for understanding.

Risks and challenges
The challenges I will face with this project regard the direction I want to take my book project in. There are so many different ideas and concepts towards making a book a unique experience, I think I will struggle mainly on the product design and development, and of course costs associated with production.
The residency will help me concentrate on this problem daily, talking with other artists and gathering a better understanding of what it is im trying to do with this body of work.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
