I've always enjoyed playing games since I was around 10 my mum could never get me off the computer. I was always amazed by the concepts and the artwork of these games. My favorite game back then was Warcraft 3. Ever since I found this game I couldn't stop playing it. I guess that's where my love for RPGs came from. Since I was young I always had this dream. What if I made my own game. I would draw scenes of my future game. I would write down pages of what my game will include. But the one problem was I couldn't do it. I watched some youtube videos ,but they all seemed complex and difficult so I never got to making my dream a reality. But a few days ago my friend Lukasz told me about this really cool program called RPG maker. I researched it a little bit and it was everything I was looking for, it wasn't too hard to use, and even if it was this time I wasn't going to give up this easily. I will try my very best to overcome every little bug that comes my way in the process of making this game. So my friend and I started working on the game. His designing skills were amazing, he built some of the best RPG maps I've ever seen in a game and I was able to code characters to talk and give you quests. I made an intro to our game. But then there is this slight problem. We are using the trial version of the RPG maker which stops working after 30 days and has limited features. Such things as custom scripts cannot be used. The premium version costs £70. Also, to sell our game we need to pay £70 to Steam Greenlight in order to put our game out there for people to vote so it can be released. This is why we need you, the backers, to help us. Our parents do not have £140 to give for some "Nonsense" as they call it. But they don't understand that this opportunity to make a game can help us so much more after school. For example, if I apply for a college and I have my own game that increases my chances to get in the college because it shows I have the initiative to learn. So I hope everyone that has a heart helps me and my friend make our dreams a reality.
Risks and challenges
There could be errors in the game which makes playing the game impossible. For example, when talking to an NPC the game may crash because of an error. The first thing that I would do is check the NPC's code thoroughly and spot any mistakes. If I can't find my mistake I would run a new game with the exact same code for the NPC to see if it's a custom script that is causing the issue. If this doesn't resolve the problem I would go the RPG maker forums and tell them what I have tried to do in order to resolve the issue and that it hadn't worked. Then, I would kindly ask if anyone could explain the error message to me so I can maybe spot the mistake and if I can't ,then I will ask for someone to tell me what I did wrong. I rather go through this process because it's a learning experience. With this game I am hoping to learn some new skills which will hopefully pay off in my future developer career.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
