I was reading a book about creativity and finding inspiration for side projects and endeavors during the summer. The book said that the best place to draw inspiration from is your own life or surroundings.
College dominates my existence and will continue to do so until I have gotten my degree... I pondered the thought of it and suddenly the idea for "the College Experience" arrived! The goal is for players to get the degree card and escape this hold which college has on them! This idea was very exciting and I worked on countless numbers of prototypes for a card game which focused on getting the degree card.
I brought my idea to a professor at my university who has created several table top games before and he helped me with the concept of having two ways to win this game. I loved the idea and implemented the second winning condition which is to master "good grades", "enough sleep" and a "social life." I find it nearly impossible to balance all three of these things while in college and often let one area slip.
The final piece of the puzzle was finding an artist who could create a casual and fun art style for my game. I asked around campus and found Lillian Gregory who is very good at cartoons. I asked her to show me some examples of the art she can make and what she made matched my vision for this game PERFECTLY.
After lots of play testing I am very proud of the game I have created and hope you pledge to receive your very own copy of "the College Experience."
How to Play:
Deal each player 5 cards. Everybody picks a card from their hand which they are going to play in the upcoming round. They place that card face down in front of themselves. Once all of the players has decided which card they are going to play, everybody flips their card over together.
The face up cards are called active cards. Each player uses their card in turn order until all players have gone. The active cards are discarded, each player draws a card and the next round begins.
If any player has "Enough Sleep", "Good Grades", and a "Social Life" at any time: they declare themselves the winner of the game.
If there are no more cards in the draw pile, there is one final round and the player who has the degree card in their hand is declared the winner.
Risks and challenges
There are few risks and challenges for this project. The card game is already complete, the art is finished and the printing and shipping processes have been tested.
I am beyond excited to send this game out into the world for everybody to enjoy!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
