WANNA HAVE THE BEST SEX OF YOUR LIFE?

Okay, I have your attention (I'm adding this note on February 25):

Don't listen to the jerk in the video! Yes, I'm driven and will somehow finish this film, blah, blah, but I need the bucks to do it properly! If we don't make it to $10k in a few days I get squat! Nada (I'm in Mexico filming and editing, by the way)!

So please, whether or not you donate, maybe spread this page URL around (everyone in your address book!). Most folks really like the opening to the film, so your friends will likely appreciate the forwarding. You can also go to Banditobooks.com and watch 'Meet the Producers'-- guaranteed to raise a grin -- but come back here and pledge some pesos. _________________________________________________

I refer to Water Time as a ‘filmed memoir.’ Although technically a documentary, it is a unique story told in a unique way; it is difficult to ‘genre-ize.’

I believe that my memoir, In Search of Captain Zero (see its Amazon.com reviews), is so beloved because the story managed to conflate a personal passion for relating to nature (which happened to be surfing) with other aspects of life, i.e., friendship, loyalty, responsibility.

I am doing the same with Water Time, but on a more important level, the level of the survival of the human species. To do this in the context of a compelling, true-life personal journey – physical and spiritual -- simply has never been done before; at least not like this.

Water Time is now in post-production; I am in the process of cutting it from the 100 hours of footage I shot over the past two years in the U.S. and Mexico, plus photographs from the journey recounted in In Search of Captain Zero; plus many hours of archival footage my researcher and I have painstakingly gleaned from various sources.

Although principal photography is 95% completed, post-production costs necessitate additional financing.

Contributors of $30 will receive a DVD copy of Part One of Water Time.

Contributors of $100 or more will get the following:

  • A hardcover copy of my last memoir, 'Can't You Get Along With Anyone? A Writer's Memoir and a Tale of a Lost Surfer's Paradise,' which conflates perfectly with the film. It amounts to a 'prequel.' (See Amazon.com's 141 Reader Reviews for more.)
  • A 'Water Time' Associate Producer t-shirt. (Large only.)
  • An Associate Producer screen credit.
  • A pre-release DVD of the film when It's completed.
  • A DVD of Part One of Water Time. It's 56 minutes and has garnered raves from everyone who has seen it:

'It's a sensory treat, with the images, effects, music and dialogue. The production quality is absolutely great.' Larry F

'...amazing footage and content... you constantly test my thoughts on what the hell is really going on with life, so thanks a lot.' Gray W

'...just treat it like the masterpiece it is and keep painting. you're a gifted artist. if you get to starving, i'll share my baloney sandwich with you.' 'Polvo'

'DISTURBINGLY EPIC' Mike F

'I was both delighted and horrified by what I saw. I can't really explain that any further.' Troy M

'After both viewings I yearned to see more... a high caliber polish and consistency of production... the film captures the beauty and lighting that is a hallmark of your photography.' Jeremy M

'Awesome and possibly ground breaking work.' Jeff

'(the mix of ) Orwell, doublethink and chris matthews is brilliant.' Bob M

'Just wanted to say I saw your Water Time and wanted you know...it spoke to my soul.' JP

Although I'm setting my goal at $10,000, the reality is I need much more than that. My lawyer tells me that 10k will not even cover song rights licensing. So if we do reach the stated goal, please keep this in mind.

Whether you contribute or not, consider subscribing to my free ‘Water Time’ newsletter at www.banditobooks.com. You can also see "Meet the Producers' there, which everyone seems to love. But come back here to contribute!

One more thing: Although Water Time has many through-lines, at its heart is the fact that we have been (and are being) lied to about... about virtually everything.

I say at the end of my trailer that I am driven. Exposing the lies is what I am driven to do.

Thanks for a bit of your most valuable asset: your time and attention.
