Support 2020 Visions...
wherever you are in the world
“2020 Visions is pure gold, so far above the ordinary that it deserves to be the iconic drama of the year 2020, with productions in theatre, film and radio” (Maurice Thorogood, director)
“2020 Visions will appeal to lots of people: anyone who’s fallen in love, and had their heart broken.” Olivia Busby (plays Belinda, Natasha & Lucy)
This is your opportunity to be associated with this amazing project from the very start, wherever you are in the world. You will be helping us to get Paddy Gormley’s beautiful play up on stage and recorded on video for the very first time.
We’ve chosen the OSO studio theatre in Barnes, London for the premiere run. It seats just 74 people, so this is going to be up close and personal, with the action happening just a few feet away from your seat.
We’re going to make a private video too, so that you can be part of the audience even if London is beyond your reach, by becoming a Video Supporter or Video Angel.
Either way, you’ll be in on the ground floor of the 2020 Visions high-rise, for we are convinced that 2020 Visions has a very big future, in the theatre, and beyond the theatre, in the UK, and everywhere in the world where people take an interest in the social and cultural history of Britain.
Our New Flier
As our crowdfunding initiative comes to an end, we're launching our newly designed flier for the show. Click below for a 2-page PDF of the flier.
The 2020 Visions video blog will tell you all about the characters, the fascinating back-story of the play, and, coming soon, episodes about the extraordinary poetic language, the hauntingly beautiful music, and much more. Here's a selection of audience comments about the blog:
- "The trailer on YouTube looks fantastic!”
- “An amazing adventure… Lucky actors to be allowed to work on such a beautiful text!"
- "Very impressive. It’s so professional & technically polished."
- "So enthralling. I'm hooked."
- "Wow! Delighted to be kept in touch with this project.”
- “Am already a fan of 2020 Visions."

Rewards: read on, or scroll down for video
We’ll be very grateful for any support you can give us, and we will acknowledge your support by giving you access to the secret music blog as soon as this kickstarter ends.
The next levels of benefits are based on tickets to the show, or, for those who can’t attend, access to a private video of the show.
Preview Theatre/Video Supporter
The premiere run of the play is deliberately short: 12th-16th February 2019; six performances only. At this stage, we just want to make sure everything works on stage, in front of an audience of friendly supporters.
Preview Supporters will be allocated tickets for one of the first three performances: 8pm on Tuesday 12th, Wednesday 13th, or Thursday 14th February. You can also book two tickets as a “Preview Twosome”. If you want to choose a specific performance, just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we’ll allocate on the basis of first-come-first-served. Every ticket holder will receive a copy of our souvenir programme.
Preview Video Supporters, and every supporter category that includes the word “Video”, will have access to the video of the whole show for one month instead of a ticket. We will also mail a programme to you wherever you are in the world, as a lasting reminder of your seminal support for the 2020 Visions project.
If you become a Script Supporter, you will receive a limited edition copy of the script. We’re not planning to publish the script any time soon, so this will be the only way to get hold of a copy. Our blog contains much information about the play, as you may know. Even so, the closing scenes are shrouded in mystery: we want to astonish you when you see the show for the first time. Accordingly, to preserve the secret, our limited edition of the script will not be available until after the premiere run.
As before, there are versions of Script Supporter for one ticket, a twosome of tickets, or the video.
Saturday Supporters and Saturday Twosomes will be allocated tickets to either the 4pm matinee or the 8pm performance on 16th February. As before, you can request one or other by emailing us at email@example.com. They, and the Video Verse Blog Supporters will also receive limited edition copies of the script, plus access to the secret verse blog, in which Paddy Gormley explains how his particular brand of verse writing, “proseverse”, helps to define and underpin the characters of 2020 Visions. The secret verse blog will be available immediately after the end of this kickstarter: prepare for a dazzling creative writing masterclass!
Friday is our gala night. We’re planning an early start at 7pm, after which you will be invited to return to the theatre for a Q&A with writer, director and cast. We’re also inviting others who have helped to develop 2020 Visions by taking part in previous rehearsals and readings, so this will be a unique gathering of top talent. Then, budget permitting (so no promises yet), we hope to have a drinks party on stage, where you will be able mingle freely with the members of the 2020 Visions team.
Friday is also press night, so there will be very few tickets for allocation to kickstarter supporters. Grab your tickets now to prevent disappointment. Friday Supporters, Friday Twosomes and Video Angels will receive, in addition to all the previous benefits, a copy of Paddy Gormley’s book, The Language of 2020 Visions, which includes a line-by-line analysis of the play, getting under the skin of the characters, and explaining the subtle literary references that lie hidden in the text. The copies of this book will be individually printed for supporters of this kickstarter, so, after the show, you will be one of a very few people who will be in the know about the hidden depths of 2020 Visions.
We hope that each performance will be hosted by one of our kickstarter supporters. As a host, you will receive four tickets for the performance of your choice, and hospitality vouchers for you and your guests to use in the café-bar. Your name (or pseudonym if you prefer) will appear in the programme and on a sign at the entrance to the auditorium, and you will be personally acknowledged and applauded at the end of the performance you are hosting. As a host, you will also be given access to our private video of the show.
Become a rehearsal sponsor, and we will invite you and one guest to a three-hour rehearsal of the play in the week before the premiere run, and we will allocate four tickets for the Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday performance of your choice. In addition to all the previous benefits, hospitality vouchers, name in programme, etc, you will receive the most exclusive of all our publications: a copy of the rehearsal script, including the director’s notes and sound cues (whereas the previously mentioned limited edition of the script will include none of these). You will even be able to play the sound cues via internet link as you read the script. The rehearsal script is being specially printed for 2020 Visions cast and company alone, and will not be published more widely, so you will have a very rare document in your hands.
Become a 2020 Visions Archangel, and, in addition to all the other benefits listed above, you will be prominently named in the programme as a principal sponsor of the 2020 Visions project. We will allocate six tickets to you on the evening or evenings of your choice: for example, you might bring a guest to one of the previews, and a further three guests on Friday or Saturday. We only ask that you choose your performances soon, so that we may be able to allocate tickets correctly without overfilling the theatre. Whatever level of benefit you choose, thank you. Your contribution to the 2020 Visions project is greatly appreciated. Where would we be without you?
Risks and challenges
We are more excited about this project than we can possibly say. We're going to make it happen, and we're going to make sure you are well rewarded for your support.
The biggest risk we can think of is traffic gridlock caused by February snow. If your reward includes a ticket allocation, you can be sure that your tickets will be subject to the OSO's box office terms and conditions. And if you're waiting for that video, you can be sure that we're definitely going to make it.
If we are unlucky enough to have to cancel a performance, we will be more than keen to organise another to take its place at the very first opportunity. And having already invested so much time, talent, energy and money in this project, we're more than a match for any setback that may occur.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
