Each player represents a herald that has been tasked by the king to find a band of adventurers for a mighty quest. Being the experienced herald that you are, you make your way down to the most likely of places to find such adventurers; the local tavern. The place is packed with all manner of would-be heroes. And why wouldn’t it be? The tavern’s gritbeer is excellent, which makes for a crowd of potential recruits. Now you’ve just got to round a few of them up and send them on their way. No problem, right?
In Rolling For Group, each player tries to outwit their opponents by making comparative statements regarding their hidden dice.
At the beginning of a player’s turn, they will examine their dice and then choose an opponent to engage in a challenge. A challenge consists of some kind of comparison between the dice of the two players involved. This includes comparisons such as, “I have more Skulls than you do,” or, “You and I have the same number of Warriors.” A player who has been challenged must decide whether they agree or disagree with the challenger's statement.
Once a challenge has been made and the challenged player has voiced their stance (agree or disagree), both players reveal their dice. The challenged player wins if their stance is proven to be correct, otherwise the challenger wins. The winner of a challenge receives one die from the losing player, then both players re-roll their dice and play proceeds to the next player.
Play continues in this fashion until a player is able to roll at least one of each party member (Warrior, Mage, Archer, and Rogue)
along with one of the two forms of transportation (Horse or Portal)
Once a player rolls this five dice set AND wins a challenge, that player can declare that they have collected a Full Party and receives one Victory Point. The more dice that you collect from winning challenges, the greater your odds of rolling a Full Party. The first player to reach three Victory Points is declared the winner!
Each Standard Edition copy of Rolling For Group comes with 30 beautifully detailed Party Dice and an illustrated rulebook inside a stylized tavern tuckbox.
