Monster Town is an action/adventure card game which places each player in control of their very own gang of classic horror movie monsters.
Each gang needs to survive monster bites, fallen angels, parasitic demons, deadly weapons and ferocious gang warfare. Conquest of
Monster Town is achieved by wiping out all opposing gangs or by being the first player to collect 10 conquest points by capturing locations and killing opposing gang members.
Each successful battle brings you closer to claiming victory in the End Game finale, where all surviving gangs compete for control of Monster Town in one last free-for-all battle until conquest has been achieved.
The hair on the back of your neck will raise as you feel the breath of a werewolf stalking you from behind. Your heart will race as a blood-thirsty vampire attempts to control your mind. Your legs will turn to jelly as you are ambushed by a horde of zombies. Animal instincts will take over as you battle the human militia.
Monster Town is a game for 2 to 4 players sure to bring out your survival instincts no matter what gang you lead.

Gangs: Renegade Militia (Humans), Brotherhood of the Fang (Vampires), Wölfenpack (Werewolves) and The Living Undead (Zombies)
Players select a gang and the members of that gang to command. Each player shuffles their gang's Combat and Special Item Decks and one player shuffles the Rendezvous Deck.
Each turn, players scout the Rendezvous deck to find locations to capture or non-playable characters to encounter. Gangs combat each other for control of capturable locations and engage in ambushes and skirmishes over uncapturable locations.
Special actions that your gangs can perform include turning/curing opposing gang members, recruiting and resurrecting, hiding with stealth characters, casting spells, going on a berserker rampage and controlling the mind opposing gang members.
The first player to collect 10 conquest points is the winner, where captured locations are worth 1 conquest point each and, during the end game, characters killed are worth the conquest points value printed on their card.
The box contains cards four different Monster Town gangs. Each gang has 54 cards (Rendezvous cards, Characters, Combat Cards and Special Items), life/wound tokens and a 10-sided Power Die. A rules sheet, which you can download here is also included in the box.

The backstory of Monster Town is told in reverse narrative, where the first game is actually the last chapter in an intriguing chronicle. Each expansion adds to the story and unravels the mystery behind the appearance of the Dark Spire - an ethereal power source that has warped the citizens of Monster Town.
Welcome to Monster Town, where the streets are awash with the blood of thousands of soulless creatures. Since the mysterious appearance of the Dark Spire, a decade-long war has been waged for the control of the city and the supernatural power that emanates from the megalithic spire.
Gang warfare has become a way of life with skirmishes between Squads of Humans, Fangs of Vampires, Packs of Werewolves and Hordes of Zombies being fought on every street corner. Only the strongest and most cunning gangs are able survive this outright savagery to occupy sections of the city and control its ethereal resources.
When the Dark Spire first appeared, there were thousands of different gangs ranging from benign rabble to well-coordinated military forces. Within a year, these numbers were reduced, in what would be known as The Great Culling, to a little over one hundred gangs. As the years flickered by, more blood was shed until only a handful of gangs now remain, including the Renegade Militia, Brotherhood of the Fang, Wölfenpack and The Living Undead.
Now is the time of the End Game, where each players' role is to guide their gang of supernatural beings throughout the city to capture strategically-important locations, exterminate all remaining gangs and take their mantle as the Exarch of Monster Town.
So strap on your gun belts, bare your fangs, sharpen your claws and rot on!
Originally high-ranking members of the city’s elite Crimson Guard, these soldiers of fortune now seek glory and wealth by cleansing sectors of Monster Town at the behest of its most affluent citizens. Whilst years of exposure to the energies of the Dark Spire have warped the sensibilities of these soldiers, this has only increased their potency and prowess in combat. Their lethality is further enhanced by the weapons they wield, including many of which that are imbued with the supernatural power of the spire. The Renegade Militia may be the city’s only true saviours but only for a price.
A secretive caste of vampires, the Brotherhood of the Fang are adept in the arts of manipulation and mind control. For eons, the Brotherhood have pulled the strings of political and military leaders around the globe using their naturally-derived psychic powers. However, in Monster Town, the energies of the Dark Spire have amplified their psychic abilities to a frightening degree. With enough power, they are able to control legions of enthralled subjects. Their psychic prowess is only matched by their untamed thirst for human blood, their centuries-honed martial abilities and their desire to rule Monster Town.
Colossal warriors formed of bulging muscles, bone-crushing jaws and stone-piercing talons, the Wölfenpack view every other being as juvenile prey. These lupine beings were once ordinary denizens of Monster Town. However, unfortunate encounters with others of their soon-to-be brethren meant that they would never lead the simple life again. Over the years, the supernatural power of the Dark Spire has continued to mutate these beasts until they are but a mere figment of their former selves. Flesh hungry and undaunted, the Wölfenpack strive to expunge the weak from Monster Town.
Raised by their necromantic overseers using the power of the Dark Spire, these undead are afforded a level of sentience above that of a generic walking corpse. None more so than the individuals chosen to lead these hordes; those who have a tendency of turning on their overseer, consuming their overseer’s power and taking control of their hordes. The Living Undead serve their new master’s ambition of complete corruption of all living things. Whilst they are filled with an unrelenting urge to spread putrescence and disease, they do this in a calculated manner by seeking out weaker prey to bolster their numbers as they create an unstoppable army of decaying corpses. Such is the power of this undead horde that there may be nothing that can stop them from feasting upon every living being in Monster Town.
We are an independent Australian tabletop game design and publishing company with a passion for developing retro and pop culture games. We released our first game – Viewpoint – in 2009 and followed up with its expansion – Viewpoint Reflections – in 2011. Both of these games were short-listed for the Boardgames Australia Game of the Year award.
We self-funded Viewpoint and Viewpoint Reflections and, as you can imagine, learned many valuable lessons along the way. We have applied these lessons and five years of development to create Monster Town, including producing the beta prototypes of the game which we also self-funded. We’re now reaching out to the public so that we can work together to fund the full production of Monster Town and deliver exciting and exclusive rewards to our Kickstarter backers.

Risks and challenges
As with most physical products, the biggest risk with this project is being able to get Monster Town manufactured in a timely manner and still meet our stringent quality standards. Fortunately, we have produced a range of products for our other games and have forged relationships with highly-trusted and reliable manufacturers. The production of Monster Town is in safe hands.
The only other noteworthy challenge is for when we collaborate with backers who receive the rewards – CREATE YOUR OWN GANG and ULTIMATE REWARD. We are located in Sydney, Australia and are very mobile – we have travelled up and down the Eastern seaboard, to inland Australia and to New Zealand to promote our games. We also have upcoming trips to Singapore scheduled and readily access face-to-face communications media such as Skype and Google+ Hangouts.
