Lystr - Shopping Made Easy
Lystr keeps track of what you need with just a swipe!
Life is busy. You had a terrible day at work, the kids want lasagna for dinner, your boyfriend just texted to ask if you remembered to get milk. Whatever you're doing, we know you're too busy to make sure you have what you need - let Lystr handle your groceries for you.
Lystr remembers for you, so you can focus on what matters most. No more mid-day texts about buying milk, no more upset kids when there's no cereal for breakfast, and no more forgetting that one thing that you needed at the store. And the best part - it's only $99 ($79 if you're quick).
Lystr listens and scans, and compiles your list. Using the companion Lystr smartphone app, access your list to shop at the store, share your list with a family member, or email it off for help with your shopping.
Low on olive oil? Say "Hey Lystr, add olive oil" or scan the barcode past Lystr's sensor and olive oil is added to your shopping list. Your list on your Lystr smartphone app is updated in real time so you always have your complete list with you on-the-go.
It's just that easy. It's seamless and Lystr is fun to use. So fun and easy, in fact, that everyone in the household will participate.
Lystr keeps track of your groceries, so you'll always know what you need and you'll never forget at the store.
Here's what people are saying about Lystr.

Lystr's patent-pending technology is jam-packed with great features. It connects to your home WiFi, has a smart barcode scanner that only turns on when you are swiping a product past its face, and always listens for your voice command to add something to your list.
We packed all these features into a compact, sleek design. Lystr is about 2.5" in diameter, and it will never clutter your kitchen counter because it lives discretely on your wall.
You juggle a lot in the kitchen, let Lystr handle your grocery list. We wanted to make Lystr easier than pen & paper, so we made the whole system hands-free.
The ways in which Lystr interacts with you makes the process a lot of fun. Lystr's logo lights up and a buzzer beeps back at you to let you know that the item was added to your list.
Everything you add via the device is added to the shopping list on your Lystr app.
The app is packed with other features as well. You can create custom shopping lists for different stores, rearrange your aisles, add another Lystr device to your account, and much much more!
You can share your Lystr account with anyone in the family that might be doing the shopping. And, best part, they'll know exactly what to get because Lystr will tell you the brand and can even give you a picture of the item.
Lystr is so easy and fun to use, the whole family will get involved with the groceries.
We know managing a household isn't easy. Let Lystr take care of your grocery list, so you can focus on more important things. No more forgetting things at the store, no more worrying about if you have everything you need, no more wondering what other household members need.
By supporting us now, you become one of our very first early-adopters! We have put together some outstanding rewards for everyone who contributes today.

Scanning and voice technology
- Lystr uses a smart barcode reader that only turns on when you swipe a product in font of it. Our scanning technology uses LEDs rather than lasers, and decodes the image to a product code (e.g. UPC code).
- Lystr uses similar technology as some of the leading digital home assistants for voice input. A smart algorithm enables Lystr to listen for it's name and then wake up. After waking up, the Lystr system identifies what you'd like to add to your grocery list.
- Lystr requires a single 120V 60Hz outlet, your standard US wall outlet.
- Except when you're using it, Lystr stays in idle mode and consumes very little energy - no more than 2-3 Watts.
- Currently, Lystr requires an iOS device to access your grocery list via the Lystr mobile app. We're working hard on developing an Android mobile app soon!
Our journey began in 2015 when Kara was in business school. In 2016 we committed to turn the idea into reality and set out to bring Lystr to the world.
It all started with a prototype in a little box and a big dream.
We knew Lystr had to be easy to use and have a smart, clean design that you'd be proud to show off in you kitchen. We also wanted it to be fun! We put in hundreds of hours of sketching, prototyping, and ideating, and made a ton of design iterations to get it just right.
We used computer simulations and printed dozens of Lystrs on 3D printers to refine the look, feel, and mechanics of Lystr.
A model is great, but it has to work right? We designed and tested oodles of prototypes to get the electronics to work just as expected. Here's a video of a few of our 3D-printed prototypes in action, and a few videos of the app afterwards.
Our team is comprised of talented engineers, designers, and business people. Combined, we have over 30 years of experience in our technical fields and over 20 years of experience in business. We have the chops to bring this product to life.
Join team Lystr on our mission to simplify the way millions of households manage grocery shopping by contributing to our campaign today!
Growing up, we envisioned a world of the future that was different than it is today. A life that was easier than the one we knew, a life that was simpler than the one we knew, a life that – relative to the one we knew – just seemed to happen automatically.
Much of the science fiction of the last century was filled with images of robots taking care of our day-to-day lives, taking the monotony out of our routines, handling the things that we would rather not handle.
We still have a long way to go to get to the most fantastic of those images, but with Lystr, help us take a huge leap forward in the right direction!
You can also help us by sharing our campaign with all your friends and family. Visit this page we made for one-click buttons to share on Twitter and Facebook!
It'd mean a lot to us us you could forward our campaign link to a handful of your family, friends, and co-workers. Every bit helps. And just about everyone can benefit from a Lystr in their home.
Your contributions are greatly appreciated. We thank you for your time and support!

Risks and challenges
Manufacturing Lystr Devices:
Many small companies face difficulties when it comes to manufacturing new products, from design problems to unexpected costs. That's why we've made it a priority to locate ourselves at mHUB - Chicago's innovation center for physical product development and manufacturing. We are surrounded by other small and large companies that have brought hundreds of physical products to market. We have established many critical partnerships to manufacture and distribute Lystrs - from electronic distributors to injection mold designers to experts in shipping and fulfillment.
We have de-risked the product already by successfully designing fully-functional prototypes for the Lystr device. We have tested them in customers homes, assimilated feedback, and iterated on the product. As of now, there are no significant issues with the technical design that we know of and need to correct for.
Third party risk:
When manufacturing physical products like this we're reliant on many suppliers and third parties. We're confident that we can manage this process, however third party risk is something we take seriously. A delay from one of our partners could push our shipping timeframe back.
While any number of hurdles can arise throughout the production process, we are surrounded by experienced partners that can help us solve any manufacturing challenges if they arise.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
