Jeremiah Justice Saves the Day is a children's picture book whose main character is a special needs superhero. In the beginning of the story, Jeremiah discovers that the tracheostomy tube in his neck is the source of a superpower! He practices using it until he learns to control it--but not without some hilarious mishaps. Grandma's wig will never be the same! Jeremiah names his power "Super Tornado Blaster". By the end of the story, Jeremiah uses the Blaster to thwart a super-villain and becomes the hero of his hometown of Savannah, Georgia.
For years, I've been searching for children's books featuring special needs kids that aren't issue books to raise awareness or teach compassion. There's nothing wrong with those books, and they certainly have a place in the market. But I believe books like Jeremiah Justice Saves the Day will find an audience as well. Kids want to read exciting books, and are generally quite open to any characters as long as they're exciting and fun to read about.
Some early character concepts of Jeremiah Justice donated by fabulous local Savannah artists, Rashad Doucet and Josh Holley.
About The Author:
I'm a pediatric nurse and a certified K-12 educator, as well as a special needs mom myself. For a long time, I've wanted to see more picture books featuring special needs kids who are vibrant and exciting. What could be better than a superhero, who just happens to have a tracheostomy tube is his neck? My character Jeremiah Justice is unlike any superhero character represented in the current market, and I'd love your help to change that.
In July, I attended a Highlights Foundation Workshop for children's book writers. The response to my manuscript was overwhelmingly positive and I was encouraged to use crowd sourcing to hire an illustrator and bring Jeremiah's book into the world. It would be an understatement to say there are not enough books featuring children of color, and especially those who are medically fragile. I'm passionate about bringing this story to life. I can't do it without your help. If you believe this is a worthy project to back, I'd love your support. Please share this with all your friends and help me bring this story into the world!

Thank you for your consideration of this project!
Risks and challenges
Even though I have self-published 3 novels, I am new to publishing a children's picture book. I'm a member of The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, so I have access to a wealth of experience and resources. My passion for this project will drive me to persevere! I believe I've built in enough time to complete the project on schedule, but there could be delays I'm not anticipating.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
