About

Hello and thank you for your interest, I have been on an Inventors journey during the last two years experiencing the ups and downs of trying to get my product to market, I have been in the building trade since 1987, following my fathers footsteps and my daughter has become a plasterer too.

One detail that has niggled me for years is the frustration of filling rubble sacks at work, usually at the end of the day, left alone to clean up it just folds in on itself and the debris falls back onto the floor.

So I took some steel to my shed and came up with Holdalot, a collapsible steel frame that holds bags open. I took it to work and realized I was onto something, it worked! The problem was that the first three-legged version was a bit unstable and getting the slots in the legs to fit around the ring was tricky. However it still did the job and I realized that I was onto something!

Two years later, after adding a fourth leg, spending £8,000 ( eight thousand) on five advancing prototypes and a chartered lawyer to process a patent I have finally developed a rust free, stainless steel Holdalot ready for the building site. Holdalot's rubber feet prevent marking any flooring.

As a bonus it became apparent that it holds buckets at a height where you don't have to bend down to the floor, which can be used as a splash bucket for plastering, putting next to a wallpaper paste table to paste wallpaper, taking a small amount of mortar, tiling grout, the uses go on. Then it folds up and gets thrown in the back of the van, ready for its next challenge.

Your contribution, and the ultimate amount pledged for, will enable me to use my local laser manufacturer to produce 700\1,000 units. This will enable me to send you your reward and have Holdalots for sale online at Holdalot.com and begin the process of manufacturing display stands to sell through local builders merchants who have shown an interest including, Savoy timber, stanmore builders merchants, Chadwicks.

Professional builder magazine  ( a free magazine to trades people in all UK builders merchants ) are featuring me in there inventors corner in there may 2019 edition. This is great news.

I have contacted the local newspaper too, Blackpool Gazette who want to do an article.

I will have constructed display stands, which will be high quality powdered coated items, and sell these to the merchants for effective display of Holdalot sticking to a uniform branding.

I have been on an online presence course and I have the backing of my local business adviser plus I have the help of my plasterer daughter and her wife who is a website/online specialist.

My good friend Dan pettitt from dmpettittdesigns is a motion graphics designer and is on board as we progress

I recently put a short video of Holdalot online to my friends on Facebook and asked them to share it, I received some fantastic feedback and in the first week it was viewed 2,500 times.

Moving forward I have Camp-a-lot, this is an aluminium holdalot three quarter size, lightweight and designed for camping and caravanning.

It holds bio-degradable bags, holdalot chopping boards along with a gas burner underneath to heat a pan, strong, heat resistant and neatly folds away.

Risks and challenges

I'm confident Holdalot works and will sell after two years of product development, meetings with tool distributors and many different manufacturers. My challenge now is to raise £12,000 through kick starter to use my local laser manufacturer to produce 700 units which will be packaged and distributed online and through local builders merchants.
