About

I've spent the last 15 years or so occasionally playing tabletop games and building terrain. One thing that always bothered me was the limited options when it came to buying terrain turfs. Sure, they have the basic colors, but can't we be more creative than just basic?

It's my hope that within the next few years, I can have 200+ different terrain turfs. There's so many different shades, colors and textures out there that can bring ultra realism to our terrain and scenery. Most of the turfs I can make are 100% organic and or natural. Full sized products will be comparable in cubic coverage to Woodland Scenics. Samples are 1oz in weight each. (it covers more than it sounds) Mississippi Mud is currently still under development. I have 3 different prototypes being tested at the moment. It's a mostly clay based product and  I'm testing the 3 in terms of shelve life, dry time, dry after effect, shrinkage, etc. It opens up a whole new world to tabletop terrain, scenery and dioramas.

I have a few thousand invested on supplies, materials and tools and basically just need funds for packaging and labeling. Mississippi Mud needs special packaging different from the rest as is a thick liquid based product.

The samples are 1oz in weight each which I know doesn't sound like much but each sample is enough to cover a 2' x 2' terrain piece. Well, not the heavier sand terrains, but I'll add more to those packs to make up for it. If I hit $750 before this ends, everyone at the $15 pledge or above gets a free 1oz sample of Mississippi Mud, This is something I've always used for a variety of things. You can carve out a lake in foam, and pour this in. Depending upon the amount of moisture in in it can shrink and crack. I've used this to my advantage by filling in the gaps with grass, weeds, etc and it makes it look amazing. Check out my website to see examples. You can also pour Woodland Scenics Water over it to give a murkishy clay, dirt bottom depending upon how you do it. It could be used to make a bog or swamp as well. You can make roads and use as mortar. A multi-use product if ever there was one.

Snow is snow but not all are equal. Realistic wouldn't you say?

My Favorite of all, this is in the final stages of development. One of the most used products in turf I design. No glues or harmful chemicals.

Blues a hit or miss per batch. It always comes out looking good but the shades are hard to repeat.

Risks and challenges

The only real challenge is getting the money together for packaging. I've spent quite a bit on supplies and materials. Alien Soil Blue is sometimes hard to replicate. It's a very bright shade and hard to perfect in color at a large batch. Once I get funded and receive funds, products will ship within a week. I have enough materials and supplies to supply kickstarter and my store for 500+ orders with more supplies on the way.
