About

A few months ago a customer with sight issues asked us to attach an audio file to our monthly blog so they could hear it read out loud, or better still, they suggested we consider producing a podcast.

One of the main aims of Blue Bear Coffee Co. was to raise awareness for the organisations in the UK and around the world working to combat human trafficking and modern day slavery. Consequently, I have had the opportunity to meet some incredible individuals and hear the story of how they came to devote their lives to fighting for justice. I just wish I'd pressed record on my phone!

People Talking Justice Over Coffee - The Podcast. is designed to invite the listener into a series of  personal and privileged conversations with people working in the justice field. In our first series, we have a number of interviews lined up with the leaders of some incredible initiatives targeting issues of injustice in the UK and around the world. We will be discussing a variety of topics, from the slavery that exists in our communities, to the global concerns of labour trafficking, organ harvesting, unlawful detention and many more subjects defined by their mutual need for change. But it's not all doom and gloom. In these conversations we also get a chance to hear incredible stories of rescue, restoration and hope from those who have chosen to engage with this evil, rather than ignore it.

It is our hope that in producing this podcast we can begin to learn, alongside the listener, about the domestic and global justice issues that exist and most importantly, how we can bring about change.

Risks and challenges

Producing a podcast is typically cost negative. They also require a great deal of time to orchestrate and produce. One way of countering that cost is to sell advertising space or promote a commercial product within the podcast. Due to the subject matter we are covering in the podcast, we are committed to producing something that is transparent and un-influenced by industry, so we can offer an unencumbered look at the topics of justice which include issues of corruption. Therefore we will NOT be taking corporate sponsorship for the series and plan to fund it entirely through the investment made from this Kick Starter campaign.

All of the guests that feature on the podcast do so voluntarily and at their own expense.
All of the money raised will be spent on audio/recording equipment and logistical expenses. No one person will benefit financially from the production of this podcast neither receive monetary reward.

This podcast is a product of Blue Bear Coffee Co. a social enterprise that donates 100% of its profits to organisations fighting human trafficking and caring for survivors. Blue Bear Coffee Co. is the trading name of The Justice Business CIC (11592634)
