Music is a big theme in the bible and a helpful tool in personal and corporate worship. I love writing songs for the church because there's so many facets and so much depth to the gospel. Once you think you've understood grace, God reveals a fresh perspective and application of it in your own life that ignites new heights of thankfulness and worship. Or maybe you've got a good grasp of the cross and what Christ accomplished through it, then God unveils yet another aspect of forgiveness, or mercy, or even our own identity, which brings you to your knees and inspires a response of humble, grateful praise. I want to write songs that tap into these colorful gospel truths and produce a response of praise and faith in individuals and churches.
My hope for this album would be to record 10 original tracks (maybe 11 if anyone decides to take advantage of the highest tier of giving!). The album will be primarily funded through a loan of $6,000 and a gift that has already been granted of $4,000. This will cover the majority of studio costs, producer fees, etc. The $5,000 that we are trying to raise through Kickstarter will go towards manufacturing physical copies of the album to sell, marketing, and a few additional minor expenses.
I will start recording the album on March 2nd in Brighton, UK and finish mid to late March. The album will be released early June of this year and will be available on iTunes, Amazon, and on hard copies. Hard copies can be ordered through various websites that will be announced closer to the release date.
Risks and challenges
The risks and challenges to this project are limited, but there are a few. I've developed a great team of designers, marketers, and supporters that will help give this project some wings. The greatest challenge will be the initial push around the album release date. The majority of income from an album is seen within the first few weeks of its release. Without the backing of a big name record label and highly funded advertising, we'll be relying primarily on Social Media and word of mouth to market the album. We obviously need to pay back the loan first and foremost, but I'd also love to see the income of the album help fund the next album project as well. I've recently felt inspired to write and arrange a six track Christmas album, so I'm not just looking to break even with this; I'd really love to gain some momentum.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
