The Kind Red Spirits are BACK.
And we've got a COUPLE rowdy little samples for you.
Sample of "Bump for the Road."
** NEW**Sample from "Younger Man."
We've spent the last five months writing, fighting, sweating, recording, and performing. We are exhausted and thrilled — mostly thrilled — to announce that our brand new full-length album is close to completion. We want to get this music out there for you to hear, but to do this the right way, we need your help.
“The Red Album” has been a labor of love. As the adorable Joe Rogan always says, “it’s good to do difficult things,” and this album has been no exception. Through a series of sweaty, tense, and goofy recording sessions, we've laid down tracks for an album that we think has a lot of grit and heart, so naming this album after the color red worked on both visual and symbolic levels. There's blood and love here.
Our sophomore album takes the listener on many twists and turns, and the songs feel as paradoxical as the people that made them. Kind Red Spirits always been a bit musically diverse, dabbling in all sorts of styles, and this new album is no different.
Some folk ballads, some dancey rock numbers, and some heartfelt historically-inspired blues. At one moment optimistic, at the next heartbreaking, these songs highlight the dichotomy of life. Joy and pain, the holy mix.
We are trying to make the best album that we can on a limited budget. That being said, renting space, recording, production, mixing, and mastering on a budget still isn’t cheap. This album is being produced completely independent of any label support, so we are doing all the work in-house.By supporting our Kickstarter, you are literally fueling real, independent music that is beholden to no one but you, the listener. You're a part of this, right alongside us.
You are our label.
We want to get the best album we can make directly to you, with as few intermediaries as possible. We believe that the best way to do this is to leave it in your financial hands.
Thanks so much for dancing and sweating at the shows and for supporting this independent music project! Kind Red Sprits would be nothing without you.
Seriously. We love you. And we love making this music.
So tell your friends, neighbors, enemies, lovers, fighters, dogs, whoever. We're going to raise this money and create an album worthy of the support we've gotten throughout the years. Get a shirt. Get some stickers. Get some buttons. Get our old albums. Get some original art. Get us to write an original song about you. Get us to come to your home and play a house show.
Let's do this.
Risks and challenges
It's always possible that our demand will exceed our supply, but that just means we'll have to go back for a "round 2" in physical production. This could happen with shirts, CDs, stickers, or buttons, all of those are renewable resources. So to speak.
Oh, and If we receive enormous amounts of requests for house shows / personal songs, some of you may receive your visits / recordings later than the end of October, simply because of potential scheduling complications. But we'll work together and make it happen, because we want to give you these rad things.
