What is Jacked Jerky?
We created Jacked Jerky as a snack for the health & fitness industry. We wanted to provide athletes with a tasty alternative to protein bars and shakes, and jerky was a logical option. The issue with most beef jerky is that it's generally made out of low quality meats, high in sodium, and full of preservatives. Our background lead us to believe that we could create a product that is free of preservatives but full of flavor. We ended up with Jacked Jerky.
We use only USDA Superior Black Angus for our jerky, specifically Choice grade top sirloin. It is hand trimmed, hand sliced, and hand seasoned. Our jerky is also free of chemicals and preservatives. With this being said, there are other brands out there that do all of this. What really sets us apart from the majority of other high quality brands out there is that we smoke our beef jerky instead of using dehydrators.
Most people have never had smoked beef jerky, as the process is more time consuming and less economical from a business standpoint. The difference in taste and texture though is undeniable. Smoking beef jerky leaves moisture in the meat, creates a more tender product, and adds a real smoke flavor. Many beef jerky brands will add "liquid smoke" to their product in order to create a smoke-like flavor. Jacked Jerky is naturally cured through the smoking process, so there is no need to add chemical preservatives.
Who are we?
The founders of Jacked Jerky work as a team to bring this dream to life. One older, one young- our differing age and backgrounds play a role in everything we do. Between us we have extensive experience in cooking, competition barbecuing, business, health & fitness, and many other fields that compliment our endeavors with Jacked Jerky. To be completely honest, we're just two friends that share a love for hand crafted products. We want to be able to offer our customers the best beef jerky on the market... period.
We currently offer three different flavors. Our flavor choices are Original, Cajun Spice, and Jalapeno Kick. When it comes to our flavoring, we always want the smoke to play a role. Our jerky is hand seasoned lightly, as to keep the sodium content lower. Original is a smokey, pepper flavored classic. Cajun Spice is similar to Original, but has a hint of cayenne. Prepare for some spice! Our Jalapeno Kick is a low sodium alternative to Original and Cajun Spice. It is made using a ultra fine jalapeno powder made in Arizona. Eat one piece and you'll feel the kick!
We are also in the process of testing out a new recipe that does not contain any salt!

How can you help?
Like any small business with a new product, we're just trying to get Jacked Jerky into the public's hands. By simply sharing our Kickstarter campaign with your friends you are helping spread the word on our behalf. Thank you!
This will be our first major production run. It is our hope that if our campaign is successfully funded, we will be able to use the funds generated to greatly increase our production and customer base. This means that we will be purchasing more equipment, marketing materials, and also general production related goods.
To be specific, we will be purchasing a larger commercial smoker that will double our production capacity. We are also in the process of participating in different sports related events and will be purchasing promotional materials in order to sponsor these events as a vendor. These materials include branded tents, banners, brochures, etc.. Lastly, we will use our Kickstarter funds to purchase bulk production related goods (packaging, labels, spices, meat, etc.).
Risks and challenges
We have already addressed many of the common challenges that start-up beef jerky companies face. We have an office space where we process orders, handle customer inquiries, and keep track of our accounting. We have a commercial facility where we produce our jerky. We have purchased commercial grade equipment to produce our product, although our production capabilities are currently limited. We have purchased and developed an E-Commerce website where customers can place orders.
Our current challenges include our limited production capabilities, finalizing our packaging, graphic work and marketing materials, and generating brand awareness.
These are all challenges that every start-up faces, but we are very optimistic about our future. We believe that if you have a high quality product and are willing to put forth the effort, you will have a successful brand.
