AMParkour was Connecticut's first Parkour gym which we started in 2009, and we have been building our community ever since. In 2014 we made the move to West Hartford in hopes of attracting members from all over Hartford County. However, we have had a horrendous experience getting off the ground due to the landlord being unable to obtain the Certificate of Occupancy. We were forced to close our doors while awaiting approval for a year and nine months before we were able to get out of the space and be ready to move on with our lives. This has left AMParkour homeless, but with the equipment and staff to go bigger and better. We never rest on our laurels, and we never wallow in self pity. Instead, we continue overcoming all obstacles in our way, and this is no different. AMP will be back and better than ever, but we need your help to do so. Please help us create the perfect space where we can grow to our potential, and affect hundreds, if not thousands of lives through the Art of Movement known as Parkour.
Remember, every dime that we raise is money that I don't have to seek out through loans and investors, which means that we can continue running AMParkour as a business focused on our art and our clients, rather than about making money.
AMP had a big part in turning my life around. Our gym has helped me get fit, gain confidence, and learn new skills that allow me to set higher goals for myself. Scott, Mike, and many others have not only helped me become a better athlete but also a more refined person. Our gym and family would be an amazing addition to any town or community. -Kevin S
[AMP] has been a place that openly accepts everyone, no matter of differences, and allows them to express themselves through movement. There is an immediate comradery that made me feel a part of the group and kept me coming back. And it is all led by a man who I look to as my trainer, friend, mentor, and coach in not only parkour but in life, and who's devotion to the betterment of others is inspiring to everyone. -Aaron M
Adaptive Movement Parkour has provided our son the opportunity to engage in safe, fun and challenging physical activities that are outside of the mainstream competitive sports typically available to kids. Thanks to parkour, we've seen our son grow in confidence, physical strength and flexibility, and acquire a self-assuredness and control he needed to succeed in school. As a parent and educator, I see the tremendous need for, and benefits of having AMP in the lives of kids and their families. -Shannon O
My son is athletic but doesn't like traditional sports. He thought he was alone until he found Scott and parkour six years ago (at the age of eight). Parkour fills a need for kids like him, gives them a place to belong, the opportunity to be a part of a 'team' or family which is all thanks to Scott Hoffman. He has made his gym's mission about more than parkour but about a safe and accepting place to belong, be yourself, improve your parkour skills, and bolster self-confidence along the way. As a parent I never worried about safety because of the way Scott teaches, gradually increasing the level of difficulty as improvements are made, and his strong emphasis on learning how to do moves in a safe way. Scott Hoffman and his Parkour gym have changed my son's life for the better and I'm so grateful that we found him. -Paula M
Scott and the Am parkour team go above and beyond to demonstrate positive adult role models. They have events such as training on new year's eve into new year's day early morning to provide the teens with a healthy way to start the new year. As a parent of a teenager, I'm well aware that my child could be tempted to celebrate new year's eve in a non healthy way and I'm grateful that Am parkour gives him a safer alternative. In conclusion, with your funding, Am parkour can reach many more boys and girls and provide them with the opportunity to have a safe and supportive place to train in parkour. This will in turn build their confidence and have a positive impact in other areas of their lives as well. -Tricia N
Risks and challenges
We are currently in talks with a landlord in West Hartford to create our new space, but he needs to see our funding before he will approve our offer on the space. That means we need to have money at hand ASAP. This landlord is known for taking good care of his facilities, including putting a new roof on the building we are looking at. Even if this space is to fall through, we have 5 other potential spaces we are looking at within 15-20 minutes of West Hartford. Your money will undoubtedly go to good use.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
