D.I.Y. Lounge TV: Showcasing The Best in Craft Culture
DIY Lounge showcases the Do-It-Yourself & Handmade Community in a way you've never seen before. Hosted by fellow crafters Jen Neitzel & Richard Fox.
D.I.Y. Lounge TV is a television show profiling the Do-It-Yourself and Handmade Craft Community.
The Craft and Handmade World is experiencing unprecedented success and acceptance today in the US. All you have to do is look at the success of the Online Handmade Marketplace, Etsy or Craft Fairs like Crafty Wonderland, BUST Magazine's Craftacular, and Maker's Faire to know this. Giant, growing communities of artisans exist all around the country in cities such as Portland, OR, Austin, TX, Seattle, WA and Brooklyn, NY, to name a few. With the downturn of our economy more people have started utilizing their own creativity to make ends meet and sometimes with incredible success. More than ever before, we are in a time where supporting local artists and creators and building our economy from within is seen as viable and necessary.
D.I.Y. Lounge TV is our answer to this interesting and creative world. We are striving to make this project about the people, culture and lifestyle of fine arts, craft and handmade. This will NOT be another example of the typical television crafty demo format. As artists ourselves, we wish to provide a critical perspective on this expanding world while offering engaging, informative material with a dash of humor.
Each episode will circle around a theme, FOR EXAMPLE -
The Sustainable & Recycled Craft Movement -
The episode will include info on the history of the movement, successful business people currently creating these products, info on how others have turned their craft into a business, and ultimately will profile a working artist demoing their skill and wares with interstitials of us interacting with the viewing audience. Each episode will follow us while we explore the culture and the lives of the makers who are creating their dream while providing the viewers with skills, tips, info and a craft they can learn within 30 minutes.
This show will be shot and edited by Emmy winning Producer/Cinematographer, Patrick Cummings, http://www.patrickbcummings.com .
We are looking to raise money to pay for our Pilot Episode which will include camera/equipment rentals, hiring a full-time editor & line producer, supplies and other incidentals. Capital is also needed to procure legal advice and cover the cost of pitching our program to the networks both broadcast and online.
Kickstarter is an all or nothing Fundraising site. If we do not meet our goal YOU pay nothing and we receive nothing. Amazon will not pester you with e-mails and no money will be removed from your account until the 90 day fundraising is finished.
Remember, no amount is too small and every donation is valued but please take a moment to review the great incentives that we offer to those wishing to donate a substantial amount.
And remember, "Don't Deny Your D.I.Y."
