Raiding Parties is a card game that takes place in the Golden Age. All of the artwork is by Don Maitz (who created the Captain Morgan Spiced Rum Logo). Don and I have been working on this project for the past few months.
The plan for set 1 is to print out at least 5,000 copies of the game. Each copy will include a total of 54 Raiding Parties game cards and also a deck of 52 Pirate themed playing cards (see below). The unit will be sold as a double deck package, which I am currently finishing up the designs for. One copy of the game is enough for two players, but multiple copies provide a much greater selection of cards.
The money from Kickstarter will go directly towards printing/manufacturing the game. A single shipment amounts to 5,000 copies, which is my initial goal. However, depending on what happens here, it would be great to print out 10-15,000 copies. Don and I have come up with a few neat ideas to offer as rewards for the pledges. Here is an email from Don regarding our Kickstarter attempt and the reward options:
I am happy to provide support in this endeavor. The signatures are good. Is it possible to add in at another level where the names of the special donors are listed in print within the cards on the back of a game rule sheet, or on an advertising page, or website? A list of - "Fine Fellows and Jolly Companions who have seen fit to sponsor our cruise: ..." I do not have a problem with providing a Forty Thieves print. We need to decide upon a size, how to get me the shipping addresses, and specify how it will be mailed.

Here is a basic idea of how the game plays:
You choose a gold total to play, for example if you choose 30 gold- all players make a deck that equates to 30 gold (number on bottom left). You can pick and choose which cards to use in your deck. All of the cards have a certain amount of Hit Points (the number on the bottom right box), which is how many shots they can survive. To attack, choose a weapon the card has and flip a card from the 52 card deck to see if the weapon hits. For example- a Scalawag to hit with his cutlass requires you to flip a Spade/Diamond/Ace or Jack. Flip a card from the 52 card deck to see if it is successful. If you hit, the enemy gets -1 Hit Point, represented with a token. Start the game by drawing 3 cards. Draw one on your turn to start, and then play only one per turn (unless stated otherwise).
