About this project
What is Alice’s Story?
Alice’s Story is an interactive theatre production designed to help kids put a stop to bullying. The play aims to:
-Empower kids to be agents of positive change
-Cultivate communities of respect and inclusion
Kids function as audience members, critical thinkers and actors.
Alice’s Story was developed by Making Books Sing, a New York-based family theatre organization, in response to growing concerns from kids, parents and teachers about bullying. It was piloted in Fall 2010 at PS 161 in Queens
“This was perfect for my students because it addressed a lot of the issues they are currently facing” -Teacher, PS 161
Why does Alice’s Story need my help?
Making Books Sing has a big dream: to tour Alice’s Story to neighborhoods across the New York tri-state area this Fall, free of charge for kids and families. The costs of touring and performing a show are huge, especially without the income from ticket sales. We need your help to make sure as many kids as possible can see our show and learn how to take a stand against bullying.
What will the money go towards?
Your contribution will go towards actor salaries, rehearsal and production costs, transportation, publicity, administrative costs, student workshops, supplemental materials for teachers and parents, and any other costs associated with the tour.
Which neighborhoods will you reach on your tour?
With your help, our Fall tour will include neighborhoods in all five NYC boroughs, Long Island and New Jersey.
Can I see a performance?
We are pleased to invite all donors who pledge $10 or more to attend a performance of Alice’s Story as our guests this coming Fall. We will notify you of performance dates as they are scheduled.
