UPDATE: ORIGINAL G'ZOINK ART (check the most recent updates)!!!! Pictures added for plushy and miniature! CHUNDERSTORM, the G'Zoink Drinking game FREE to all $55 backers ($10 add-on for everyone else! Please keep spreading the word, friends. I added a new G'Zoink themed Dementalism promo card that will be yours if we nab 100+ backers (check it out below). Also, like the G'Zoink facebook page for special offers.
See, there are these things called giggities. They sort of flutter around touching peeps and absorbing their traits. If one touched you, for example, it might nab itself your mighty hairstyle, or maybe your Grandma’s taco recipe, or your ability to blast fireballs out of your nose. That sort of stuff…
Giggity giggers are zazz wagglers (magical sorts) who have hipped themselves to the gist of how to capture giggities, yoink the traits the giggities nabbed from others, and g’zoink them onto themselves. So, like, if you’re a giggity gigger and you capture a giggity who once touched me and absorbed my buns of steel, you can waggle your zazz and get yourself some sweet, sweet buns of your own.
That’s G’Zoink in a nutshell. Simple, yet hideously complex. Players are giggity giggers who catch giggities and g’zoink their traits in an attempt to become the most awesome zazz waggler since zazz waggling first became a thing that’s a thing. It’s not that easy, though, because giggities don’t only absorb the good stuff. If you don’t play your cards right you might end up with horrible backne or a blue hairy tongue or something even worse.
G’Zoink takes place on Mutha Oith, the setting for the Low Life RPG and the Dementalism card game, but familiarity with such things is not necessary for players to enjoy the game.
Game Type: Card Game
Duration: 20 minutes or so
Difficulty Level: Easy to learn
The concept behind G’Zoink is absurdly simple. It’s one of those “easy to learn, difficult to master” sort of the things peeps are always going on about. Various locations on Oith are designated by particular stacks of cards. Each locale has a difficulty rating, known as a squonk, that lets players know the degree of risk versus reward each stack contains. Locations with low squonk values contain giggities with accordingly low valued traits (good and bad). Higher squonks are more dangerous, but also potentially more rewarding.
On a player’s turn she takes the top card from the locale of her choice and adds it to her hand. Each card is illustrated with a unique giggity and represents a trait g’zoinked by the giggity gigger who nabs it. Another type of card, known as The Hookup, allows players to mix things up a bit by transferring cards to other players, nabbing them from other players, placing them back in the stacks, and other fancy jazz.
So, basically, peeps weigh the risks and rewards of each locale based on what’s been nabbed already and make the choice of which stack to nab from based on that insight. Simple, yet hideously complex (also absurdly fun)! There’s a bit more to it than that, but that’s the gist of the thing.
The following snazz can be nabbed as part of an existing pledge level or by adding the listed amount to any other pledge. If you add anything please send me a message via kickstarter to let me know what you want.
Anyone who backs this kickstarter or helps me spread the word has my sincerest gratitude. I love you all and every bit helps. Also, if you back it, even for a dollar, all the peeps who follow you on kickstarter will find out about it and the word will spread. So, thanks.
Everyone who kicks in five or more clams will be recognized as a supremely awesome person on the Mutha Oith Creations website.
A mere twenty clams nabs you digital PDF print and play copies of G'Zoink and BOTH G'Zoink Expansion decks.
Here's where you get the actual printed copy of the G'Zoink game. You can nab as many extra copies as you want by adding more twenty-five dollarses to your pledge.
Everyone who gets something mailed to them also gets a snazzy G'Zoink sticker and an art card. If you want more stickers and/or art cards, you can get one of each (or two of one) for an extra $5.
This here is the newly announced CHUNDERSTORM drinking game expansion for G'Zoink. It's FREE for everyone who pledges $55 or more and can be added to any other pledge for a measly ten clams.
TWO G'Zoink Expansion decks are in the works. The first one represents The Dingdom of the Dong and the Incredibly Huge Monster (tm) while the second is all about That One Place with All the Sand and the Pox Aroma. We don't need to reach any stretch goals or anything in order to nab these. They are part of the initial kickstarter. How's that for awesome? The thing is, though, boxes are expensive. Expansion 01's box will be a thing if reach $7000 in funding and Expansion 02's box will happen when we hit $10,000.
Fifteen clams makes one of these super cool Oithling mouse pads yours. They are 8" in diameter and consummately circular. Each mouspad features the Crying Oith logo and the phrase "Hooman by Birth - Oithling by the Grace of Boorglezar".
Do you like to wear clothing? If so, wow, do we have a treat for you. This stylish t-shirt features the G'Zoink logo and is so goosin' cool I'm going to order several for myself and wear them all at the same time.
This limited edition (only 20 more than we fund through the kickstarter will be made available to the public) Low Life Miniature portrays one of the wonkiest giggities around. He'll be really big and have a ton of crazy features. I haven't sculpted him yet, so I'm not sure exactly what he'll look like. I'm open to suggestions. These contanimants I sculpted should give you an idea of what to expect:
Legendary plushie creator Krystal Tomlinson (Live.Dream.Create, The Lowlies) will make you a CUSTOM stuffed felt giggity. Each one is entirely unique and inimitably cuddly. Here's a sample:
Now we're cooking with gas (I always cook with gas. I do everything with gas, if you know what I mean). You get to design your own giggity. Tell me the traits you want it to have and I'll draw it for you and make it into an official G'Zoink card that will be plopped into one of the official G'Zoink decks. Classy, stylish, and affordable.
For the low, low sum of just sixty clams you'll be the proud owner of the Dementalism: An Ingenious Game of Ingenious Ingeniousness card game and ALL THREE Dementalism expansion decks. Sure, that's what it costs if you buy it in a store or at www.lowtique.com, but this way you don't have to pay any extra shipping fees.
Here's your chance to get some original art for an extremely low price. You'll get all the perks of the Create A Giggity thing a couple of paragraphs up, but YOU GET TO KEEP THE DRAWING. That's normally a $300 value, but you're special and I like you.
Not only will get you get a bunch of other jazz (basically all the stuff we've already discussed, but I will personally travel to your home and hand deliver your G'Zoink game and other rewards. I'll stick around for a couple of days, living on your couch and raiding your refrigerator (or maybe I'll stay in a hotel) and playing games with you and your friends. Come on, it'll be super fun. If you live outside of the continental US, please message me and we'll figure out what this would cost for you.
You get every single thing listed up until now and you also get a copy of every single, non limited-edition, product produced by Mutha Oith Creations up until now and over the next five years. This includes books, card games, board games, miniatures, clothing, game accessories, and all sorts of other snazzy jazz. You also get a lifetime "Get in Free" pass to Con on the Cob.
I will personally form a cult devoted to the worship of you and/or the espousal of whatever dogma you wish to represent. Ever wanted to be the Gawd of Red Bread Mold or the Patron Saint of Stubbed Toes? Now's your chance. I'll be your high priest and lead an annual worship service at Con on the Cob. I'll build you a shrine in my backyard and erect a statue in your honor. Also, I create a website devoted to Youdaism and form a missionary service dedicated to gaining new converts. How can you pass this up? How indeed...
The following jazz will be unlocked as we reach certain milestones.
When we reach $5000 and for every $1000 thereafter a new, limited edition, promotional G’Zoink card will be unlocked and included FOR FREE to all backers who pledge at least $20 (PDF form for digital backers, printed form for everyone else). These cards will only be offered to backers of this kickstarter, so they’re totally collectible and exclusive.
Promotional Dementalism Card
Here's something super cool you might get jazzed about. If (when, really. Who are we kidding) we reach 100 backers, every backer who pledges at a level that gets something in the mail (or hand delivered) will also receive this snazzy G'Zoink themed promo card for the Dementalism - A Game of Ingenious Ingeniousnessness card game. Cool, yes no?
Customized Hand Drawn G’Zoink Cards
If we reach $12,000 every backer who pledges at least $90 will receive a FREE hand drawn custom G’Zoink card. I will personally sketch a unique giggity on your card, which will have the same background as those that come with the game. If we reach $20,000 EVERY BACKER who pledges at least $50 will get a hand drawn custom card. At $30,000 EVERY BACKER who pledges $25 or more will get one.
Boxes for the Expansions
The two G’Zoink Expansion Decks are already ready to be a thing. The thing is, though, they won’t come in their own individual tuck boxes unless we hit certain milestones. The box for Expansion 01 (The Dingdom of the Dong and The Incredibly Huge Monster) will be unlocked when we reach $7000 and the box for Expansion 02 (That One Place with all the Sand and The Pox Aroma) will be unlocked when we reach $10,000.
At certain milestones, beginning at $15,000 and every $15,000 thereafter, I will introduce another G'Zoink Expansion deck (60 cards). These will be offered to all backers for an additional $15 each.
Risks and challenges
Having learned my lesson from past projects, I've set the G'Zoink release date far enough in the future that any production delays should be easily manageable. Since I'm doing all the illustration and design myself, I won't have to rely on the misadventures of other freelancers to get the job done. That's a good thing, but it also puts me at the mercy of my own muses. That's why I set the delivery next March instead of an earlier time, even though I'm fairly confident the game will be ready well before then. In fact, it's mostly ready right now.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
