Olympus Inc: An Urban Fantasy Setting Book For Savage Worlds
A New Urban Fantasy Setting for Savage Worlds where Demigods and mythical creatures battle in secret for the future of our world.
UPDATE: The Preview Document is live both on Google Docs and DrivethuRPG!
Welcome to Olympus, Inc!
At this point you're probably saying to yourself, "well the artwork is cool and I like Savage Worlds, but what's the setting all about?"
I'm glad you asked! Unlike most settings that have tackled the concept of demigods in the modern world, we are a bit different. Olympus, Inc answers the question of what would happen if the Olympians were kicked out of the heavens by Gaia and the Titans ruled instead.
After she ejected them from the heavens, Gaia was also kind enough to use the Lethe River to cause all humans to forget that the Olympians existed. This nearly killed the Olympians, who began to fade away. However, the Olympians realized that they could draw from our obsession with the almighty dollar and gain power. Therefore, the Olympians traded their stone temples for towers of glass and steel. They formed the world's largest corporations. Now the Titans and Olympians fight a battle for control of the Heavens and Earth with each wielding incredible power. In the midst of all of this are normal humans who are asleep to everything that is around them.
Gaia has put a few rules in place to ensure that the Titans and Olympians don't tear each other apart as well as the rest of the inhabitants on Earth. This is known as the Nemesis Effect. The Nemesis Effect prohibits the use of visible supernatural abilities in front of sleepers (normal mortals). It also prohibits mythical creatures from appearing in front of a sleeper in their true form. If anyone breaks the rules, the Goddess Nemesis punishes them. It can be anything from being wracked with intense pain to death. It really depends on the severity of the infraction.
Therefore, the Titans and Olympians fight a secret proxy war in a world identical to our own. However, most humans don't know that the gods exist and they certainly don't know that monsters and demigods with superhuman abilities roam the earth.
The setting has a strong cyberpunk feel with a bit of superpowers and espionage thrown in for good measure.
So who's writing this thing?
Olympus, Inc has been a labor of love for two experienced writers and avid gamers: Gilbert Gallo and Charles White.
Gilbert is an amazing Italian author whose work has been featured in tabletop gaming magazines. He has also authored "Mythos", a setting guide for Savage Worlds published by Mystic Throne Entertainment. In addition, Gilbert wrote supplements in support of this line as well as other great stuff!
Charles White is an American author whose work has been featured in a couple of different gaming magazines. He is the author of "Ultimate Knights Templar Guide". In addition, he has authored a few modules and is co-founder of the Ennie-Nominated publishing company that is behind this product, Fabled Environments.
So, what's in the book?
In this book, we present the history of how things came to pass and where we are now. We detail character creation for decedents of 6 gods from the Olympian Pantheon: Zeus, Hermes, Ares, Aphrodite, Apollo and Dionysus. We also provide a list of powers for each line as well as details surrounding the corporation that each god created. In addition, we have also provided two demihuman options: Satyr and Minospawn. A Minospawn is basically a 6 foot tall Minotaur with the same bad attitude as the full size version.
If that isn't enough, we have created a ton of new edges, hindrances and weapons that are all designed to create the feel that is unique to Olympus, Inc. We have also included a plot point campaign as well as a random adventure generator that is sure to give you tons of ideas for your own game.
Our hope is to flesh out the other gods, present more demihuman options, like cyclopes and centaurs, and offer additional powers for each divine line in future supplements. We really want Olympus, Inc to be a line and not just a single product!
Just to be clear, this setting book requires both the Savage Worlds core rulebook as well as the Savage Worlds Super Powers Companion.
Okay, that's nice, but what about stretch goals?
I like where your head is at! We have those, too. We'll be sharing some specifics as we get closer to funding the book.
I can tell you that the stretch goals are really cool! We reached out to some of the best authors in the Savage Worlds community and they agreed to help us out. Six amazing authors have agreed to create 2000-3000 word adventures in the world of Olympus, Inc. If we reach all six of these stretch goals, we'll put them all in a single .pdf and offer them to backers in print!
Stretch goal authors include: Sean Preston, John Dunn, Umberto Pignatelli, Sean Bircher and Curtis Lyon as well as the prolific Italian Author and Game Designer, Andrea Angiolino. We'll introduce you to all of these amazing authors as the Kickstarter progresses.
$9000- 2000-3000 word adventure by Umberto Pignatelli AND 15 custom figure flats from Arion Games. These will be the archetypes presented in the book along with a few intelligent monsters.
$9500--Fabled Environments Floorplan: Art Gallery/Museum
$10000- 2000-3000 word adventure by John Dunn
$10500- 2000-3000 word adventure by Sean Preston
$11000- 2000-3000 word adventure by Sean Bircher
$11500- 2000-3000 word adventure by Andrea Angiolino
$12000- 2000-3000 word adventure by Curtis Lyon
$12500-Compile all the adventures into a single document. Backers will have the option of purchasing the compilation in print as a add-on.
Why do you need the money?
90% of the book is written, but high-quality artwork and product design isn't cheap. We want to use the money that we raise from this Kickstarter to commission more amazing artwork and create an incredible product. However, we can only do this with your support. The money that we raise will, among other things, allow this book to contain a ton of color art, like the two pieces created for the campaign.
PLEASE NOTE: ALL print pledge tiers $45 and higher are only offered at Premium Print Quality. There is no additional charge beyond the tier cost to get the book at Premium Print Quality!
DriveThruRPG will fulfill the print orders for this Kickstarter. Whether softcover or hardcover, the book will be 8 1/2 " x 11" and come in around 150 pages.
DriveThruRPG explains Premium Printing this way:
"The Premium color uses a thicker paper that can hold heavier ink saturation and thus the color pages look a little brighter and the contrast is much more powerful. Premium is more expensive to produce in part because of the heavier paper and there is more ink used in the process. Both B&W and standard color books are printed on 50-lb. standard white paper. Premium color books are printed on 70-lb. white paper."

Risks and challenges
Things can always happen and projects can get delayed. However, we have 90% of the writing completed on the project. We have some incredible artists on board and one of the best editors/developers in the industry on our team.
Fabled Environments has delivered three previous kickstarters and we are confident that we can make this the fourth. We pledge to be full transparent throughout this process!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
