Take part in creating Jordan's new EP, to be recorded by critically-acclaimed producer Rick Beato (Shinedown, Charlie Mars).
UPDATE: 10/31/11 - PROJECT 100% FUNDED!!
Thank you SO MUCH to everyone that has pledged to this project. I'm beside myself right now as I type this; I can't believe it! I'm still accepting pledges until Nov 1, 11pm Central Time. If I make it to $7K, I'll send everyone a special gift to say thank you. Every dollar helps, as I still am paying a lot out of pocket to make this record. Because of you people, I am chasing my dream and winning the race.
I LOVE YOU ALL.
Greetings, friends, family, fans, fanatics, facebookers, and the like!
I'm conducting a Kickstarter campaign during the month of October to raise money for the production of a brand new solo record by me, Jordan Tanner. Here are some quick facts about what's going on.
- OBJECTIVE: Raise $6,500 or more during the time allotted
- DURATION: 31 days (Oct 1 - Nov 1)
- METHOD: Get awesome rewards for donating!
- PURPOSE: To make a professional record I can push to radio and labels
- PRODUCER: Rick Beato (Shinedown, Trey Anastasio, Charlie Mars)
- ALL-OR-ZERO: If I don't reach my goal, I get no money, and you get no rewards.
And now for the gory details!!
I have been blessed with a fantastic opportunity; the chance to record an absolutely top-notch five-song EP with a well-known producer named Rick Beato (bee-AHH-tow!). He's worked with the likes of Shinedown, Charlie Mars, Trey Anastasio, and many others.
I've produced two previous records on my own. All things considered, I’m proud of how they sound. However, the chance to take my career to the next level by making a professional record has been presented to me. There's a good possibility for radio play and label attention here. And there’s no way I can afford to pass it up.
There’s also no way I can afford to pay for it on my own...
This new EP, as yet untitled, will likely contain five brand new, unreleased tracks. I may also include a self-produced, sixth bonus track! We are slated to record in December, and the EP is slated to be released in the Spring of 2012. However, if you pre-order the record now, you’ll receive an immediate download after the New Year when we’re done with audio production, months before the disc hits shelves! Be among the first to listen to this brand new project by reserving your copy now! I will be forever grateful.
What do I sound like? Stream from my latest album, "All of the Night."
If I reach my goal of $6,500, I'll be able to fund the record and thus offer you guys some cool stuff in return! But if I don't reach my goal, no money or rewards are exchanged.
To say thanks for your support, I’ve put together the best of what I’m able to offer you. Check out the right sidebar to read detailed descriptions or to pledge an amount.
- Basic Pledges
- The Tipper, The Lone Star, The Hipster: Basic download packages
- Standard Pledges
- The Jewel Case, The Fanatic: Deluxe physical albums and custom guitar picks
- High-End Pledges
- The Hollywood, The VIP, The Performer, The Luthier: signed DVD, autographed poster, "Making of the Record" video, private concert, custom acoustic guitar
This one-of-a-kind hand-crafted acoustic guitar has been built from scratch by my father and graciously donated to this Kickstarter campaign! Here's a video to give you an idea of what it looks like (watch in HD!)
I’ll be getting 5 songs for $7,500 total. Quite the jump in cost from my previous budgets, but I know it will be a smart career investment due to the talent, notoriety, and support of the folks I’ll be working with. I’ve set my Kickstarter goal for $6,500, and after paying fees and promotional people, I will get $5000. Thus, I’ll be looking at paying $2,500 out of pocket to go towards the record. I feel that’s the most I can realistically pull off (I play music full-time for a living in Austin, Texas. It’s rewarding but not always lucrative!). Here’s a breakdown of exactly where the money will go:
- 8%: Pay the Amazon/Kickstarter fees
- 15%: Pay for press and promotion of campaign
- 77%: Pay for the tracking, mixing, mastering of the EP
If I exactly reach my goal of $6,500, I’ll still be paying $2,500 to make this happen, and this does not include actually pressing and packaging the disc.
If this project is overfunded, the money will go to help pay for the remainder of the recording costs, a plane ticket to Rick's studio in Atlanta, GA, and if any is left over, to go towards actual physical packaging and distribution in the spring.
Thank you all so much for reading, listening, pledging, and supporting. It means the world to me and I can’t wait to give something in back. Cheers until then. :)
P.S. If you have any questions, please check out the FAQ directly below, or please feel free to send me a message. Comments welcome too!! I would love to hear from you guys!!
I've invited some film buddies into the studio to capture the experience of bringing this music to life. I want to offer an inside look at what goes on during the creative process and what it's like to lay down tracks with Rick (the producer!) Watch and hear me tracking vocals in the booth, laying down guitar riffs, talking about material, etc. We are tentatively scheduled to record for 7 days and I expect to shoot a lot in that time. You'll get online access to the video right after we're done recording, and I'll ship you a DVD with the rest of the merchandise in the spring.
Absolutely! If you live in or around the Austin, TX area, you're more than welcome to stop by and check the instrument out for yourself! Just shoot me an email at email@example.com.
I'll play anywhere I can get to, but I can only cover travel expenses within the general Austin region (i.e. Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, etc.). If you want me to travel far, far away and play for you, I'd love to, but please consider buying me a plane ticket. :)
Shipping in the U.S. is included, but please add $5 for Canadian orders and $10 for international orders.
