Dear Benefactors! For years now we have been recording our music ourselves, in some of the most inhospitable of acoustic environments; the abandoned second floor of an old French hotel, a dilapidated portacabin in the west of Ireland, bedrooms of madhouses and basement studios in London, coupled with the most basic of recording equipment; borrowed studio microphones and preamps, homemade vocal booths fashioned from a fortress of hotel mattresses, and a spiral staircase echo chamber.
This time however, we feel our latest material merits a fancy pants, pro studio sound.
That's why this past April we are delighted to have recorded our new record with legendary engineer/producer Steve Albini @ Electrical Audio studios, Chicago. Steve Albini has recorded some of our favourite bands - Nirvana, Pixies, The Stooges. Take a studio tour! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwktqzJntDM&t=7s
We now require funding for vinyl and digital mastering at the world renowned Abbey Road Studios, London - as well as funding for vinyl and cd duplication.
That includes mp3, radio, youtube, vinyl and wav file (for cd) mastering. We have recorded to analog tape - so, analog to digital transfers will be required in order to have digital versions of the music, which are an additional cost.
If like us you're a vinyl lover then you'll be excited to know that this will also be the first time we will put out a release on vinyl.
Just like our homemade method of making music, we rely on our home base of fans, friends and supporters to help fund these types of projects, through our social media, live shows, and word-of-mouth.
Each step of the project has and will be filmed for a documentary that we will be releasing along with the record. We hope this will be a sidecar for you, our friends and fans of our music, to ride alongside us and share the experience in bringing this music to fruition.
Love and light,
Gavin, Ronan & Mathys. xxx
Risks and challenges
In the spirit of full disclosure the record may not be available until late 2018. Although, the digital download most likely will be available sooner.
Because we want our art and it's presentation to be the best it can be, we can't in these early stages give a specific date on when the record will be complete.
Due to the fact that we are an independent band we rely heavily on the benevolent helping hand of other professionals such as graphic artists, photographers, editors, sound mixers, etc. who in order to also make a living, naturally have paid work they sometimes must prioritize. This has the possibility to cause slight delays in our own project.
Also, turnaround time for vinyl production can sometimes be a long process due to the fact that it is a delicate format and we must listen to test pressings of our record from our vinyl manufacturing company beforehand to make sure it sounds perfect prior to signing off on the final mass production.
We are really excited in bringing all you new and existing patrons on this exciting journey with us and look forward to keeping each and everyone of you up to date on each and every step of this process.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
