The Chair is a five issue full-color comic book series by new creators Bryn Scott Hubbard and Tyrell Deaver. It's a comedic super hero tale which tries to answer some of life's toughest questions. Such as: What is true love? What does it mean to be human? What are the limitations of Woman-On-Chair sexual dynamics? At what velocity must a quadriplegic man be thrown against a criminals face in order to break his nose? And more!
The-Chair takes place in a sprawling metropolis fraught with crime, sleaze and personifications of present day atrocities against human-kind.
Our story follows Kevin Stout, a quadriplegic man who is resigned to his hum drum life, until a freak accident at a construction site exposes him to a life-changing-terra-forming substance. He gains no abilities by this encounter but his mechanical wheelchair becomes conscious, incredibly verbal, and hosts a myriad of super powers.
Now Kevin is the reluctant sidekick to a newly sentient mechanical wheelchair hellbent on fighting crime. The story contains...
A huge amount of violence!
Fun and progressive sexual relationships between men, women and furniture!
It's going to be a wild ride but in the end what I really want to get across is the heart of the story. Which is:
The Comic is far from being finished but the images below will help give a glimpse of what the colored artwork will look like...
Below is a legend for types of rewards available to each contribution bracket:
Bryn Scott Hubbard [writer] is a filmmaker from Portland, Oregon. His introduction into comics came late in life when he was invited to screen one of his films at Wizard World Philadelphia in 2015. After being smacked across the face with inspiration he has been working to get this comic off the ground. He works as a sound mixer day to day on film and television and hopes to incorporate more storytelling into his career.
Tyrell Deaver [artist] is a San Diego based illustrator. He first got into comics six years ago when he needed an album cover for a record he was producing... So he drew it. The creative process inspired him to dive deeper into the art world and now he collaborates on passion projects whenever he can. Eventually, he would like to draw for large comic studios like DC or Marvel. But until then he'll keep the passion burning by putting his talents towards smaller independently produced comics... like this one!
Where does your hard earned money go? Primarily these funds will be put towards page rates for our artist Tyrell. Drawing, painting and finishing a 110-page comic series is incredibly time consuming and your donations will help Tyrell focus on bringing The-Chair to life while still keeping a roof over his head.
Risks and challenges
This is big step for both us. We have worked on creative collaborative endeavors before and understand that issues can arise, and they will! But we have a good handle on the process and a great amount of checks and balances in place to make sure we finish this project on time and to the approval of our awesome backers. Thanks so much for your support in bringing The-Chair to life!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
