Re:work Furnishings was founded on the idea that just because it's old or used, doesn't mean it isn't beautiful. Old, reclaimed wood and materials have more character and can be much more beautiful than new materials. Handmade architectural elements and furniture crafted with reclaimed materials, reflects what is lost in this day of machine made, cookie cutter home decor and furniture. It also cuts across architectural style to reflect your taste and design from the rustic to the contemporary.
We use local sourcing to find our materials, supporting other small businesses and local makers. Reuse and redesign are an important standard to our work and our lives. Sustainability and post-consumer use of materials is what drives our business, design and products. It's what makes re:work work.
It all started with a stack of old barn wood a friend needed out of his driveway. So we put it in ours. After weeks, okay, months of deliberation about what to build we finally agreed. A large dining table for the new house we were moving into.
Now to be fair, Alex is not your average "handyman", he's able to build and fix almost anything. In fact, our first house he remodeled completely (demo, drywall, kitchen, concrete counter tops, bathrooms, porch, plumbing, you name it). As he started the remodeling and building, friends and family began to encourage him to start a business using his talents. And so Re:work Furnishings was born.
As we are growing, the smaller our shop (ahem, garage) is becoming. We currently keep all our reclaimed barn wood in a storage unit so we actually have room to build pieces in said shop. The orders are growing and the size of orders are growing. We want to keep up.
We need your help to improve our shop space! In addition we plan to open a showroom for client meetings, events and creativity. Let's take this to the next level.

We appreciate your pledge and support more than we will ever be able to tell you!
Risks and challenges
Hey, we aren't perfect. Things happen, right? We like to believe we always do what is best for our customers and tend to complete things sooner than anticipated (under promise, over deliver).
However, the pledges through kickstarter are unknown right now. Maybe we'll raise $100,000 and have a ton of fulfillment to complete, wouldn't that be great?!?!
The good news: our reward items are pieces we have inventory of and have mastered the production process on, and we've already started making and stocking up on them.
We promise to keep you up to speed on your rewards and the progress of our new shop space and build out.
