My name is Darrick Thompson. I’m a 21-year-old singer songwriter based in Chicago, IL and I need your help to make my second studio album. In winter of 2008 I was fortunate enough to record and independently release my first full-length album with a shoestring budget and very little recording experience. While I’m wholeheartedly proud of I WAS AN AEROPLANE and its successes, for the past 18 months I’ve been strategizing ways to make a follow up album that utilizes multiple studio locations, a community of goal oriented musicians and engineers, and an end product that is not only pleasant to listen to, but is collectively created by a community of passionate and hardworking music lovers.
This project isn’t about album sales, market exposure, or fame it’s solely about making the best possible album with the resources I can accumulate with help from my backers and supporters. My ultimate goal is to introspectively delve into the music industry and help depict what it takes to make an album and share that insight with those interested. The definitive concept of this project is to raise the monetary sum needed and to bring along followers interested in both my music and my cause. This is an opportunity for all of us to look into the music industry and see what it takes to make a great album.
This endeavor isn’t possible alone, that is why I’m calling for help. This is a unique opportunity to have my recording budget partially supplemented by friends and strangers. Ultimately, a larger budget broadens the overall quality of the album, and allows the investing community to play a substantial role of this album’s creation.
Throughout the entire recording process I plan to document and release periodical footage of studio work, so that backers can truly be a part of the process.
Without outside funding and the help from backers and supporters this album will still be made, but it won’t be the product I know I’m capable of making.
If you’re interested please help!
