Highways & Byways Was Canceled: What's Next?
It's been three weeks since the Highways & Byways Kickstarter campaign was canceled. I'd like to follow up with you on the loose ends.
I have investigated the cost of doing a small print-on-demand run of Highways & Byways. Even after comparing a lot of options, the per-unit cost of Highways & Byways is prohibitively expensive in small print runs. I’m not thrilled to say that, but I wanted to give you some closure.
If you're still interested in Highways & Byways, you can always access it through Tabletop Simulator. The demo is free as long as you have a copy of Tabletop Simulator.
I do have some good news, though! With everything I've just said above in mind, I've decided it's time to try something else. That’s the big silver lining of this campaign's cancellation.
Pangea Games is now working on a new board game. It’s called Yesterday's War. It's a small box worker placement board game about life 50 years after the apocalypse. It is the next game to be created by Pangea Games. Sean Fallon of Smunchy Games and I are working together on this one.
We're in the early stages of development of this game. You can bet I'll be using every lesson from War Co. and Highways & Byways to make a great game. I'm about to start doing lore updates, which I’ll send out by email to Yesterday's War subscribers.
Thank you once more for your support, encouragement, constructive criticism, and for sticking with me even after the cancellation of this campaign. It means a lot, maybe more than you realize!
