Why Cancel the Highways & Byways Campaign?
Today, I come bearing news you probably were not hoping for. I have canceled the Highways & Byways campaign.
To all of you who have backed this campaign, shared on social media, or written words of encouragement on this page or elsewhere: thank you so much! You are awesome, I love your enthusiasm, and it’s been wonderful to witness.
I’ve canceled the campaign because it’s well past the halfway mark and we’re sitting at 30%. It’s really unlikely that the campaign is going to fund, so I’ve decided that there is more to gain from devoting the next two weeks toward game development than there is from continuing this Kickstarter campaign.
If you’d like to see a more in-depth analysis of my decision-making process in canceling this campaign, keep an eye out for a post on my blog this Friday at 9:00 am EDT. I have a long-form write-up that goes into much more detail.
If you’re still interested in Highways & Byways, there are two things I want you to know.
- You can play it right now on Tabletop Simulator. The demo is free if you have a copy of Tabletop Simulator.
- I am investigating the cost of doing a small print-on-demand run of Highways & Byways. I still need to run some numbers to see if this is feasible. Either way, I will be doing another update on this matter. I’m open to your suggestions.
Even with this campaign’s cancellation, there are a lot of ways you can keep up with Pangea Games and my future endeavors. I’ll still be making games and writing about making games – I’ll just be smarter about it next time :)
Pangea Games: Website (beta version, just launched)
Thank you again for your incredible support, kindness, and encouragement!
