About this project
“Bayou Lands” is a documentary film that advocates for the natural development of the bayou system for recreational use and natural wildlife. Not only is our bayou system a precious resource, it shapes the overall identity of Houston as a whole. While the bayou landscape is Houston’s most prominent natural feature, it is now a patchwork of natural and urban development schemes, much of which is constructed into concrete waterways. Future bayou rehabilitation could restore and integrate the natural value of the bayou system to improve the quality of life and overall attractiveness of the city.
Risks and challenges
Funding will help with professional services that we can not perform ourselves such as music licensing, advertising, DVD production and some post production expenses for audio mastering and color grading. No equipment or travel costs will come from donations, only a few finishing touches we can not provide ourselves.
We hope to spread the film through festival circuits and have the film shown on public broadcasting. The film will also be used as an educational tool. In 2013, Brian Traylor worked as a videographer helping the Bayou Land Conservancy to raise 4.2 million dollars to protect the Deer Park Prairie in Texas. We are confident this film can be successfully completed to spread the word that Houston's bayous are worth protecting!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
