I believe I will probably email the app and provide instructions on how to load it as a Chrome App. The great thing about Chrome Apps is you can open up the source files in the editor of your choice and just refresh the game and see your changes live.. Go nuts with the code... make your own spin off etc!!

Help support the release of perhaps one of the most bleeding edge HTML5 games that exists.
The goal is to release Mine Mars as a free Chrome App in the Chrome App store by AUGUST 2012, while also completing an open source gamepad / mouse / keyboard mapping plugin.
I am also hoping to SHRED some records for most downloads of a Chrome App, and with your help I think it is totally possible! LETS MAKE SOME NOISE!!!
I would love to help anyone interested in learning how the game was made and hopefully get some great feedback in how to make the game better!
Also, your participation and help in getting the word out will help build up even more momentum in HTML5 gaming and apps!

Oh yes you can! It took a bit of effort, but this game is running consistently at 60 frames per second ( I have a 2011 macbook pro ) and the framework for loading / modifying / saving large voxel regions has been perfected! Thanks to all the devs working on the technology to run such a game right in the browser!
THE PLOT (no.. not your plot of land.. the game plot :-)
Earth's attempts at avoiding a flury of super dense meteors has failed. Most have perished from the initial impacts but those who remain are doomed as Earth moves outward out of it's normal orbit. The International Space Station now harbors the hope of human kind and the look towards Mars for their next long term hope for colonization.
A small super-dense meteor hit Mars as well which provided enough additional gravitational pull to support a localized atmosphere. A team worked quickly to setup the "Core" which stabilized the super-dense meteor and create an infrastructure to welcome additional humans from the International Space Station.
Communication with the team was lost and you are sent to investigate and ensure the stability of the "Core" for the future of man kind!
So probably a few holes there in the plot, but I would love some help from some backers to get a good story going!! This story will play while the game pre-renders all the vertices so it needs to be good and maybe have some nice pictures. Thoughts?
This game is unlike most browser based games. Once you install it, it downloads additional resources from a server and installs them using the Filesystem API. That means you can have no internet connection and play the game! It blends CSS3 and Webgl to provide a rich interface and 3D graphics.

Donations allow me to put more time into completing and releasing the game. It's a little hard to pour time into a non-paying project due to silly thinks like needing food so I am asking for a little help to keep the project going and ultimately give back to the entire community through a free release. In addition, I want to make the best interface for mapping keys / gamepads / and mouse movements so I will open source that plugin as well.

Work that needs to be done:
- Application of the Gamepad API (so you can use an x-box controller etc...)
- Refactoring of the inventory menu including use of CSS shaders!!!!
- Completion of the world construction (hopefully with the help of the top 4 donors)
- Fine tuning of the story (would love some input from some creative backers)
- Server side work to show screen shots from users (possibly share then via twitter or facebook)
- Fine tuning of the gameServices api (reusable HTML5 game framework)
- Add particle effects during building and removing materials
Current way of setting keys to actions. Click an action then press a key to set it.
Have begun working with the gamepad API and gamepad.js. Would like to integrate them both into a system for customizing controls etc...
