About
There are two common problems that plague many college students all over the world: overwhelming expenses and unhealthy eating. What if there was a solution to both these problems? Bananas for Art is a self-propelling, scholarship generating project made by students for students. It's a mobile gallery for young creatives at New York's School of Visual Arts, all the while serving original and healthy frozen treats. Bananas inspired it all.
It started on a hot day, we happened to have a bunch of bananas and the idea struck us to make ice cream. With no other viable ingredients, we created The Banana Cream. The Banana Cream is a healthy evolution of ice cream. It's frozen bananas swirled together into a soft serve with the texture and consistency of ice cream. But the best part of all is it's simplicity. It only requires one ingredient, bananas. Although it sounds simple to make there's a very specific technique that's crucial to achieving the ultimate banana cream.
So how do we share this deliciously creative dessert with the community? With the first fully-interactive multimedia food truck, the BFA truck. The entire truck is painted as a clean white canvas. The side of the truck is a huge LCD screen where the work of young creatives will be continuously displayed. Student's still images, motion and even film. The BFA truck will showcase a multitude of artistic talent while serving the community their unique and healthy treats. It's all done to support student artists.
The Banana Cream is an innovative opportunity that happens to be conveniently delicious and healthy. But Bananas for Art is more than just an ice cream truck. 100% of the profits from the Banana Cream sales goes to Banana Grants. The project comes full circle since students fund their own education by simply showcasing their hard work. The School of Visual Arts has always inspired it's students to think big. With Bananas for Art we will inspire and enable future generations of creatives to think even bigger.
