About this project
"Hole in One" is a mini-golf putting range to be installed at Incline Gallery in San Francisco. The unique sloped design of the gallery allows for participants to begin their putt at the top floor and have it finish in the hole at the bottom. The course will be designed so that viewers can follow and watch their ball as it rolls through the obstacles and makes its way towards the hole. Inspired by the writings of Albert Camus and the Myth of Sisyphus, participants will be encouraged to then carry their ball back to the top of the gallery and try their putt again.
Displayed alongside this installation will be the work of artists: Anna Huemmer, Matthew Kotzin, and Jacob Troester. Each are working on separate projects with similar concepts, in different mediums. This installation will be free and available to the public March 1 - March 29, 2013. More information on the space can be found at http://inclinegallerysf.com.
Risks and challenges
As the opening of this show approaches, one of the biggest challenges to overcome will be the element of time. I have already begun construction on this sculpture and will continue to move forward with it as the funding from the Kickstarter campaign comes in. It will also be a challenge to seamlessly integrate this sculpture into the gallery space. As a precaution "Hole in One" will be built to be modular so that once installed in the gallery it can be be tweaked to work perfectly within the existing architecture.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
