A new year... a new calendar, with new images! Based on the success of my 2013 calendars, I am again making two editions featuring images, sun & moon rise & set times, and tide charts, for California and Washington.
Note: after the project is fully funded, I will send out a survey so that you can tell me which calendar you would like, where to send it, etc.
Improvements over last year include:
- better color control in printing
- fixed holidays
- two holes in top corners, to prevent curling
- Sunday weekstart
Last year my calendar started the week with Monday. This year, thanks to valuable feedback from everyone, I will be using a Sunday week start.
To guarantee yourself some calendars, be sure and pre-order them through this kickstarter project, otherwise I cannot promise I will have enough for you to order!
What makes these calendars special?
Well, for one, they feature twelve of my images at 11x16.5 inches - for under $20! Furthermore, since I custom designed the calendar from scratch, I took a unique approach and included intuitive graphics that show the Sun and Moon rise/set times for every single day, in addition to the predicted tides. Indeed, these are location specific values, but they do not vary by that much throughout each state. For example, in California (relative to Monterey) Sun and Moon rise/set times do not vary by more than 20-30 minutes, and high/low tide timings for the northern and southern parts of the state vary by no more than an hour, so they still provide a very useful guide. The variation is even less for Washington.
And that's not all. For every month I have included a small description of what natural phenomena are happening around the state, such as typical bloom times for wildflowers, when fall colors start to appear, or when the first snow generally starts falling.
For those of you who really want the most accurate information available, I am also providing free pdf's of the Sun/Moon/Tide calendars on my website for a number of additional cities along the West Coast.
Each month includes an 11x16.5in print, with this calendar layout below. Sun and Moon rise and set times, along with tide charts, are given for each day. Also included is a brief description of seasonal information.

Risks and challenges
I already have the designs, and have someone who is committed to printing them and have gotten price and time quotes. And this is the second year I'm doing this. Thus, I foresee no risks or challenges save for something entirely unpredictable. The biggest challenge (aside from getting the funding) is that I may have to stay at home for a weekend to get everything in order - and I'm confident I can handle that!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
