Ocean at the End of the Lane.
Have you read Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman? The story inspired me very much, so I wrote a song. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to present the song, via my good friend Patrice Hawks-Reed, and Neil's web master Dan Guy, to Neil himself, and ask if he would make a drawing to be used for the cover of a limited edition 7" single that The Luck of Eden Hall planned on releasing. Much to my delight, he did and gave me his blessing! Some dreams do indeed come true.
The plan is to press 1000 limited edition 7" Singles, kept in a dust jacket and sleeve, each will be hand numbered and assembled by myself individually, then housed in a plastic bag for safe keeping. (Includes a download code for the single from BandCamp.)
Side One: The End of the Lane. Lettie Hempstock beneath the Chestnut trees. Has She been waiting there for a hundred years? To take my hand and show me where unnamed creatures sleep. She knows what I think. My mind is hers to read. She knows. Ursula Monkton was such an evil thing. Seductively she came and took over everything. She tried to lock me up in the attic once again. I've tried escaping, but she knows where I am. She knows. Something crackled in the static air. The cursed evil hung above me where it writhed and threateningly laughed at me. I ran until the will abandoned me. Just as its wicked lips caressed my ear. I saw a little girl aproaching near. Lettie yelled at it "Get off of my land!" I felt much braver when she'd taken my hand. She knows.
Side Two: Blown To Kingdom Come (from TLoEH's forthcoming album The Acceleration of Time) A Wrinkle In Time was your favorite read. Pinball Arcades fulfilled my dreams. She kissed my nose, on tip toes. We channel surfed the late late shows. Aeon Flux on MTV. Some Schezwan spice and rich curry. We lost the remote. Nowhere to be found. The volume knob distorts the sound. The mattress was thrown down on the floor. We grabbed a fan and spray bottle. One hundred degrees. Down on my knees. I played for you, you prayed for me. Oh, where have you gone? Blown to Kingdom come. A walk in the park, enjoying the breeze. I carved her name into these trees. We lost the time. Nowhere to be found. Fell from the clouds and hit the ground. A Wrinkle In Time was your favorite read. Pinball arcades fulfilled my dreams. She kissed my nose, on tip toes. I smile again. And so it goes. Oh, where have you gone? Blown to Kingdom come.
The Luck of Eden Hall. The Luck of Eden Hall has been a fixture on the Chicago music scene since the 1990s, and they are “Phenomenal!”, says Jim DeRogatis of the NPR show Sound Opinions. Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins claims their first 7” on Limited Potential Records is “still one of my all time favorites.” They have nearly a dozen sold out releases on the critically acclaimed Fruits de Mer record label in England and have been featured on the cover mount CD in Classic Rock magazine. Recently, Headspin Records in the Netherlands has released their albums as deluxe limited editions, including their current single The Happiness Vending Machine. “Excellent!” exclaims Ashley Norris of Shindig! Magazine. With over 25 vinyl and CD releases, including nine full length albums, they have appeared in numerous articles in magazines including: Goldmine, Shindig, Record Collector and Bucketful of Brains, and currently in Dave Thompson’s new book of quotes titled A Seance At Syd’s (Mega Dodo). Their music and theme song is heard every week on the PBS television show Moochie Kalala Detective’s Club, starring Tim Kazurinski (Saturday Night Live), and this summer the band will be touring the United Kingdom once again, to support their soon to be released album The Acceleration of Time.

Risks and challenges
I think I've already overcome all of the challenges for this project, save one. The songs are written and recorded. Neil has drawn the cover and the artwork is finished. I just need to raise enough money to manufacture the single and get it out to you folks. Together we can make this limited edition 7" single become a reality.
