One hot summer’s day we were trying to beat the heat (no air conditioner). We got the bright idea to re-create a timeless classic of building an air fort with a sheet and a box fan. It worked fine for the most part, however as we remembered, these forts where not always the easiest to secure (clothes pins), while trying to keep enough air in the fort to maintain its shape. This make-shift fort kept us cool, but lacked stability. Solving this problem lead to us using our imagination to create fun, attractive, easy to erect fan forts. As ideas came, we created a few prototypes.
Our first prototype came out beautifully, however, the fabric purchased at our local craft store was too expensive. The solution was found in one of our regular activities, shopping at “thrift stores”. We decided what better way to give new life to unused fabric, not only does this provide reasonable priced fabric it also adds uniqueness to every fort and fits in with our life philosophy of reusing and recycling.
As winter sets in here in the Northwest, we would like to fill our time making forts that will help to foster joy and imagination in people of all ages.
With your support we will be able to purchase more material (fabric, thread, and magnets), it will also provide us with an opportunity to purchase an additional sewing machine, which will in turn produce a higher volume in less time. Paving the way towards exploration into imaginations and possibilities………..
Risks and challenges
We feel we have created a solid prototype design that we can implement in relatively easy fashion once we have acquired the necessary equipment from our kickstarter fund. It is expected that if our funding goal is reached, it will take approximately three to four months at maximum to fulfill all of our backer reward obligations as each fort is cut and crafted individually.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
